Responsibilities Dignity Health / Northridge Hospital Medical Center Program Coordinator - Trauma Administration JOB SUMMARY All employees are expected to perform their duties in alignment with the vision, mission and values of Dignity Health. The person doing this job is responsible for a variety of tasks that lead to a high level of customer satisfaction in the most cost-effective manner possible, with respect and dignity. Under minimal supervision, the Trauma Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the care of the trauma designated patients at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, assuring optimal care throughout the continuum, from injury prevention through hospitalization. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manages trauma patient data registry to improve and promote health care outcomes, and provide reliable data on which to build further trauma related programs. Independently implements performance improvement activities as indicated. Designs and implements community outreach injury prevention and educational activities based on the population of trauma patients served. Independently implements community outreach programs that have been developed for populations of patients. Monitors and evaluates clinical protocols, standards of care, practice guidelines, and policies and procedures within the scope of trauma care. Reviews clinical incidents in collaboration with Trauma Clinical Manager and Trauma Medical Director and initiates appropriate actions. Assesses and meets the learning needs of trauma patients and their family members as indicated by the clinical course. Implements house-wide initiatives using research and evidence-based practice for trauma patients throughout Northridge Hospital Medical Center. Complies with established regulatory and accrediting agency standards, policies and protocols. Uses theoretical and empirical knowledge of physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and health assessment, supporting the plan of care. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications Requirements: Education: Graduate of an accredited Nursing School/Program or degree in another healthcare related field. RN with BSN Preferred. Experience: At least three (3) years experience as a Registered Nurse caring for trauma patients in the emergency department or intensive care unit setting. RN candidates 1 year of current experience in current role preferred. For Non-RN candidates 3-5 years of current experience in current or similar trauma role. Adult experience required; pediatric experience preferred. Above average interpersonal, communication, negotiation, organizational and presentation skills. Must have fluent English language skills (verbal and written). Must be committed to quality patient/customer service. Specialized Training: BLS required, TNCC or ATCN training/certifications preferred LA City Fire Card required per hospital policy. Experience with database management preferred. ATS and TOPIC course preferred. Experience with American College of Surgeons Trauma Standards preferred. Experience with injury prevention activities and program development preferred. Experience with medical record coding beneficial. Licensure: Registered Nurse with current California RN License preferred
