What you''ll get to do: As the Hardware Engineering Lead working for the CBP ITI2 program, you will have a fast moving, challenging, and highly rewarding position building systems and components that assist CBP in protecting the public from dangerous people and materials while facilitating legitimate trade and travel. The candidate will have experience in the electronic and / or mechanical assembly process. The candidate will be required to work in an environment where teamwork and individual collaboration is essential to success . * Analy z e and decompose operational, mounting, cabling, power, and environmental requirements * Research, identify, design, develop, test, and maintain hardware components * C onstruct modular electronic systems utilizing C ommercial- O ff- T he- S helf (COTS) hardware and enclosures to protect systems from environmental hazards * Configure systems using COTS and proprietary software * Oversee other hardware engineers, providing guidance on assembly steps and industry best practices * Track and document assembly status * Perform testing and troubleshooting * Identify hardware component, process, and assembly improvements * Develop assembly instructions, interpret engineering blueprints and technical terms. * Discern quality of parts and materials. * Contribute to Basis of Estimate (BOE) and Bill of Materials (BOM) buildups * Identify quality control and testing steps * Maintain inventory of parts consumed and tools used in the assembly process You have : * Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass CBP background investigation, criteria includes , but not limited to: * 3-year check for felony convictions * 1-year check for illegal drug use * 1-year check for misconduct such as theft or fraud * 15 + years of related experience * College degree (B.S.) in Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline . Experience acceptable in lieu of degree. * Experience building electronic systems in an enclosure with wires, screws, and electrical components * Technical management experience * Great interpersonal and e xcellent communication skills You are good at : * B asic understanding of computer operating systems and networking. * Experience in working with cable, wire, and termination technologies. * CAT-6 Cable creation and testing * A fundamental knowledge of electronic theory. Understands basic electrical wiring principles (low voltage only) * U nderstanding of simple test equipment including multi-meters and cable testers. * Knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools for use in designing hardware containment and mounting systems * U nderstanding of Gen 2 RFID * Experience with network based cameras, including their configuration and setup * Creat ing and interpret ing technical documentation. * U sing power tools such as drills, power saws, and other tools. * U sing hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, cutters, etc. * M achining and manipul ating of metal, plastics, and composites. * I nstalling, configuring, and running operating systems including Windows and Linux. * Assembling high level devices using provided instructions * P erforming quality assurance checks on assembled or repaired devices * M anaging, troubleshooting, and preserving technical equipment * Problem solving * T ime-management Bonus would be having: * Understanding of soldering standards with hands-on soldering experience.
