Boeing Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A) is seeking a Senior Linux System Administrator to join the team to provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems. Manages IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems. Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc. Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems. Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers. Provides support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process. Configures and manages UNIX and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance. A Day in the Life (Just a Few of the Things You Will Do): Communicate with the cross-functional team, users, and customers in a professional manner Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, operating system, storage, applications, in accordance with standards and operational requirements. Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures. Detecting and solving the service problems ranging from disaster recovery to login problems. Installing the necessary systems and security tools. Research and recommend innovative, and where applicable automate, approaches for system administrations tasks. Ensures products conform to standards and specifications. Develops plans and assesses projects to analyze risk. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled job. Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communication with impacted constituencies. Apply OS patches and upgrades, upgrade system administration tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary. Perform on-going performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required. Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education and judgement. Work Location: Ft. Meade, MD Telework Available: N/A Required Education / Years of Experience: Twenty (20) or more years of experience with the programs of similar scope plus a Bachelor''s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
