Job Description:We are currently looking for a dynamic individual as a for our Performance Products organization at our sitelocated in Freeport, Tx.As a Laboratory Chemist you will be responsible for providing chemist level technical and analytical testingsupport to the process units and shipping area to ensure product quality control is maintained throughout the plant.Primary purpose of the Chemist is to provide technical expertise and support as necessary for effective overalllaboratory operation.What will be expected from you?•Provide technical services and support to plant production and shipping operations. This includes areas such as:QA portion of of new product evolutions, special customer sampling requests, raw material and product shippingspecifications, investigation into off-spec product issues, and other technical problem solving as needed•Review the results of laboratory tests to ensure the conformity with established testing procedures for storagetank analyses and shipments. Review analytical data for completeness and accuracy for in-process material(unit streams and rundowns), storage tanks, shipments, etc.•Implement and maintain lab analysis procedures for the Freeport Lab, including lab area used by Operations.Provide technical training and support for Lab Technicians and operators to properly execute these procedures.•Perform instrument troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs. Establish and run instrument calibrationstandards and update calibration schedules, coordinate with venders for ongoing equipment preventativemaintenance, service and repairs.•Maintain SAP QM module application which includes record keeping of all sampling results for process,shipment, and purchased materials. Maintain and troubleshoot certificate profiles, inspection plans, etc.•Champion and provide technical support for Lab related Quality Assurance programs such as instrument GageR&R studies, developing lab SPC/SQC charting, generating SQC data per customer requests, etc.•Coordinate ISO 9001 certification for Freeport. Maintain KPIs to measure plant quality performance andprovides quality data for an annual Management Review.•Engage with the Huntsman commercial team and directly with customers as needed to ascertain customerrequirements and resolve issues, manage specifications, investigate customer complaints, etc.•Primary contact for the use and management of the lab sample management program (currently Hertzler,Gainseeker, but LIMS in future)•Serve as plant liaison and subject matter expert for Global Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing initiativesrelated to Quality. Collaborate with Regional Quality Manager and other members of regional Quality network toimplement Performance Products Quality initiatives at the Freeport site.•Implement and monitor compliance with lab chemical hygiene; scrutinize the flow of lab data for accuracy andtimeliness; and manage costs of supplies and technicians'' overtime•Review new product introduction (NPI) and management of change (MOC) checklists for final manufacturingsign-off, including review and approval of product specifications, laboratory test methods, and COA profiles•Support special laboratory sample analyses upon request, particularly when it involves more advancedanalytical methodologies. Provide technical support for Lab related special assignments as needed.•Identify analytical equipment needs and specifications for CAPEX planning. Provide back up analytical supportwhen technician not available.•Investigate new lab sampling and testing equipment applications. Develop new and/or revise analytical testmethods to continuously improve the effectiveness of laboratory operation.•Serve as Freeport Lab point person for coordinating efforts with HATC and manage the Freeport site non-conformance reporting system.What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?•Bachelor''s Degree in Chemical Technology and 3+ years of relevant experience•Analytical lab experience with Gas Chromatography (GC) required•Lab experience with Mass Spectrometry (MS) preferred.•Ability to interpret and apply corporate policies and procedures.•Lab equipment maintenance training and experience such as for Agilent equipment GCs required•SAP QM and LIMS experience strongly preferred•Experience with SQC/SPC analysis required•Experience with ISO9001 (required) and Six Sigma (preferred)•Results oriented with strong planning, organization, and communication skillsWhat can we offer you?Huntsman offers unsurpassed opportunities to build a successful future.
