VMware Systems Engineer with Security Clearance

Gridiron IT is seeking a VMware Systems Engineer local to Leesburg, VA with an active TS clearance. Essential Duties: * Provide support & operate as a technical Virtualization & VM resource on infrastructure projects pertaining to virtualization and systems management both on premise and AWS* Perform Virtualization implementation, analysis and optimization. In addition, VM monitoring, problem resolution, upgrade planning, execution, and process creation and documentation.* Assist customer Operations & Engineering with testing and implementation of new technologies and/or services including methods, policies, and procedures for installation, management, monitoring and support.* Ensure new virtualization technologies and methodologies are adequately tested and integrated with Infrastructure and Application Services.* Optimize or re-design existing storage services as needed and work with Tier 3 vendor technical subject matter experts (SME) as needed.* Provides technical leadership and be accountable to define, maintain, communicate, and implement standards consistent with customer establish architecture and strategy.* Provide high-level virtualization planning & design for the scope of the project* Provide engineering support to the customer Architecture, Engineering, and Enterprise Services* Participate in requirements working sessions and reviews* Troubleshoot and provide solutions to production issues* Ensure deliverables are prepared to meet quality standards and in accordance with contractual obligations.* Brief senior leadership on the technical status of projects and tasks.* Provide input and suggest improvements based on current and new technology, best practices, and security requirements. Required Minimum Experience, Education and Certification: * VMware &/or Vsphere (5+ years) * Virtual Infrastructure Planning & Design experience (5+ years) * System engineering (5-7 years) * Experience in Design/Architecture role (5-7 years) * Experience in AWS Preferred Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Cisco &/or Oracle experience (3-5 years)* Vcloud & Vcops experience (2-3 years)* Wintel Administration (3-5 years)* Linux Administration (3-5 years)* VCP (VMware Certified Professional), CCNA, and/or MCSE
