Help DutiesThe incumbent serves as a Child and Youth Program Assistant (CYPA) in one or more child and youth program facilities which provide care and services to children and youth 6 weeks to 18 years of age. CHILD AND YOUTH PROGRAM ASSISTANT (ALL LEVELS): The incumbent will serve as a Child and Youth Program Assistant (CYPA) in one or more child and youth programs and will be accountable for the whereabouts and safety of children and youth. Provides care/supervision, oversight and accountability for program participants. Assists in preparing age appropriate activities; supervises children and youth during indoor and outdoor activities, on field trips, outings and special events; arranges and serves snacks/meals. Executes work in accordance with policies and regulations. May be required to transport children in government vehicles. Education 15 Semester hours above the high school level in early childhood education, youth development, or related field.Child & Youth Program Assistant CY-01 (Entry Level) Basic Requirement Must be at least 18 years of age, hold high school diploma (or equivalent), and have the ability to read, speak, and write English. Must meet specific physical requirements, pass a physical examination, and have required immunizations. Must be able to lift 40 lbs or more and stand for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to complete a Serv Safe Food Handlers training, and satisfactorily complete and maintain an installation, state, and national criminal background checks. Must satisfactorily mandatory training and demonstrate competency within required time frames. Must possess maturity and good judgment and enjoy working with children, youth, and their parents.
