** This position is eligible to work in a hybrid work model (combination of in-office and remote days). **JOB SCOPECharter is a leader in the cable services realm offering a multitude of products servicing millions of customers. This principal engineer position specializes in creating and supporting network automation efforts in the data center environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong mix of both networking and software development skills in order to focus on development and execution of network automation opportunities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for the creation, maintaining, and execution of automation tasks supporting the Data Center network infrastructure.Develop customer self-service tooling and workflows to ease operational efficiencies and accuracy. Automation of network focused change efforts including network configuration tasks, standardization updates, software upgrades, provisioning, compliance auditing, and validation of changes. Working with our advanced technology group on evolving needs surrounding automation, orchestration, and new test cases to support the operations environment. Coordinate and works with operation team for testing and executing of changes. Input into architecture design around automation and orchestration while maintaining best practices. Working with F5 BIQ-IQ and A10 Harmony for load-balancer integration, automation, and customer self-service opportunities. BASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor''s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, and/or related work experience.Minimum of five (5) years of network engineering experience.ADDITIONAL JOB QUALIFICATIONSExcellent understanding of routing and switching protocols, network architecture, TCP/IP, and OSI model. Candidate should be well versed in IPv4 and IPv6.Strong knowledge of industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols.Experience in software and systems such as Visio, Word, JIRA, Chalk, and related tools.Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional mannerPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSCisco or Juniper certification (CCNA/CCNP/JNCIP) or equivalent.Python and working with REST APIsStrong analytical and problem solving skills. Strong working experience across various networking vendor platforms (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, F5, A10)Framework experience such as Django and Flask a plus.Modeling and markup languages such as YANG, XML, and JSON.Experience with automation related frameworks such as Ansible, Ansible Tower, CloudForms, Morpheus, Cisco NSO, Itential, and other orchestration platforms a plus.Experience with source control systems. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location.
