Overview Axient is seeking a Missile Defense Agency Test Engineer/Analyst to support our customer in Colorado Springs, CO. Responsibilities Colorado Springs and the greater Colorado Front Range is the hub of DoD space operations, most of DoD''s on-orbit space testing, and much of its space research and development. They collaborate with other missile defense and space experts in the program - military, government civilians, and contractors from Axient and other contractors; and help the Government manage the development and delivery of state-of-the art on-orbit space sensors, ground network, communications, and computational systems. There may be opportunities to travel - Huntsville, California, various university and national labs MDA launches more large missile / rocket systems than about entity in the world, they are part of testing those systems. They are part of the team that conducts a successful intercepts of a target missile by one of our Missile Defense System weapons. Amenities: This career opportunity is in the Missile Defense Integration and Operations Center (MDIOC), on Schriever Space Force Base, hosted by the newly formed United States Space Force - the base is named after the father of the US Air Force ICBM and Space Program, General Bernard Schriever. The MDIOC facility is a large multi-story complex with great amenities. The MDIOC includes a full-service cafeteria, 24-7 food and sundry shop, coffee shop, and a free fitness center. Qualification Narrative: The Space test engineer/analyst provides leadership and technical support to MDA in planning, modeling, and analyzing flight and ground tests using certified tools and processes to predict system behaviors and performance; gather and reduce test data; and assess test performance. This Subject Matter Expert also pioneers MDA space sensor system engineering processes by supporting requirements identification and execution assessments, and is directly involved side by side with system engineers developing application of processes and standards for component, assembly and system testing, and mission operations. This support is provided in cooperative work environments with other entities such as contractors, universities, DoD partner space-ground networks, organic ground test facilities and flight test launch ranges. Test engineer/analysts provide data and analysis to assist with test event planning and converting test results into useful information for system development and improvement. Need to possess technical and theoretical knowledge of missile defense testing and operation, as well as Warfighter tactics, techniques, and procedures. Specific duties * Support mission planning, execution, analysis for flight and ground tests on behalf of Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Space Systems Test Division (SS-T) * Support annual IMTP development forecasting cycle and attend IMTP working groups and TIMs; providing technical recommendations on: flight and ground test designs, overhead sensor capabilities in SUT, DSUT & TOO roles and associated input to target requirements/trajectories * Co-develop space sensor system element Test Objective Memo requirements for both System and Cyber testing with SSE * Member of SS integrated engineering & test development team responsible for CONOPS, design, requirements definition, installation and integration of operational space capabilities into the Missile Defense System (MDS) * Internally manage and coordinate SS-T Continuous Development and Integration (CDI) and Pairwise activities to include authoring system test plans and as a key contributor to element level development testing * Externally manage and coordinate CDI and Formal Ground Test schedules, plans, and special applications with MDA Engineering and MDA Test Directorates, key interfaces such as MDA Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications Directorate, Ground-based Missile Defense Directorate * Write operational and system test requirements for SKA Ground Test String, and future systems scheduled to come on line starting FY23 and continuing several years into future * Provide oversight of installation, integration and checkout of test-unique equipment and software supporting both system level and element development level testing on recently test planning and scheduling management for first BMDS integrated and distributed test campaign in 2021 * Support operations and SW updates of division''s assigned MDA Modeling & Simulation (M&S) equipment particular to integration of MDA M&S Framework functionality within ground test network * Support on-going requirements definition for future M&S validation, verification, and accreditation efforts * Co-Lead M&S Test Case selection and production efforts with SS-E to ensure SS SIU libraries are current and appropriate, relevant for intended use * Provide input and feedback to SSE data analysis plans, assessments, and evaluations for the directorate''s ground testing program * Create and lead specialized test working groups and technical interchange teams as required to baseline new functionalities and capabilities * Develop and establish SS input of test resources, schedules, availabilities of SS test strings dedicated to CDI and Formal GT activities through the DTG-managed Resource Management Scheduling Tool (RMST) * Support coordination and lead the reviews Prime Contractor loads analysis plans and verification approach for feasibility and quality controls. * Prepare for and participate in Failure, Material, and Engineering Review Boards. Review and provide comments on assigned Prime Contractor Objective Evidence in support of major System Engineering Reviews (e.g. SRRs, PDRs, CDRs) * Support independent evaluations of contractor performed analyses. Form teams among stakeholders and manage efforts to task completion * Represent the interests of the customer in working group forums and in Technical Interchange Meetings. Provide findings and recommendations. * Communicate and defend plan methodologies, tools, and results of analyses to Leadership Qualifications Preferred qualifications: * MDA Test experience with small to large test activities that include single to multiple test elements * Familiarity and/or experience within MDA weapon system technical requirements and processes * Familiarity with tools and processes for modeling and simulation to support M&S engineer''s requirements development of M&S Verification, Validation, Accreditation (VV&A) efforts * Familiarity of basic analytics processes and tools to support and help inform engineer analyst taskings using techniques for complex developmental and operational programs * Capable of reading analytic engineer''s end-products and recommending improvements for reporting and evaluating performance * Possess knowledge of overall MDS system architecture and interoperability for both operational baseline and test representations * Enjoy working as a member of a team and assisting with solving complex problems * Must possess strong interpersonal skills to coordinate with several program offices and the prime contractors, and university R&D efforts * Capability to coordinate a variety of products both within and outside of the division * Capability to use the Microsoft Office package to include Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Project * Ability to work independently and with limited supervision * Experience with data entry, data manipulation, and reports development with databases * Possess prior experience with cyber CVPA and AA test planning and execution * Familiarity with cyber CVI and ACD test requirements development, planning and execution * BS or MS in IT or related field preferred * 10 years of any relevant operational and/or system test execution experience (such as AFOTEC, OTA, etc.) * Space Operations or Space Systems Engineering experience * Secret clearance, or higher (TS/SCI eligible could be good in future programs) Travel: * Travel as occasional. Most probable venues include: * Contractor, USSF, USAF, USA, USSPACECOM, NORTHCOM and USSTRATCOM/JFCC-IMD venues in the Boulder-Denver-COS corridor; Contractor & university Venues in Los Angeles, Sunnyvale CA; MDA and Army venues Huntsville, & DoD, Service HQ, and/or university venues in NCR Must meet applicable COVID safety requirements and protocols
