ManTech assists Space Force by supporting a multitude of areas, including Systems Engineering & Integration, Acquisition & Program Management Support, Mission Integration Management, System Safety & Environmental Engineering, Systems Security & Information Assurance, Launch Schedule and Risk Management, Certification of New Entrant Launch Vehicles.ManTech is recruiting a highly talented Engineer with skills and background related to launch vehicle production, refurbishment and reuse in rocket avionics, propulsion, structures and mechanisms to support NSSL missions and help the Space Force reshape and evolve the future of National Security Space Launch. Experienced and energetic candidates are needed to join our world-class teamin Hawthorne, CA .This position supports the US Space Force, Non-Recurring Design Validation (NRDV), fleet surveillance and critical missions support for SpaceX Falcon family launch vehicles used to provide launch services for satellite missions. This Engineer will be a key member of the Manufacturing Reuse/Refurbishment Reliability Verification (MARRV) Team and support Space Force assessments of SpaceX Falcon vehicle design, production, and vehicle space flight worthiness for NSSL missionsGeneral Responsibilities:Perform all MARRV tasking with a high level of engineering competency and minimal supervision. As a valued member of the MARRV team you will be expected to be a Subject Matter Expert in launch vehicle avionics, propulsion systems or structures (composites or laminates).Ability to report assessments and evaluation results to senior program managers and customer representatives in a competent manner.Work with the launch service provider to create and manage a third-party assessment plan to schedule and track assessments to be performed during certification activities.Monitor and review task assignments, which include but are not limited to: review/development of data tables, assessment checklists, engineering review board presentations, contribution to NRDV Review Boards (NRBs), development of Excel spread sheets, PPT presentations, and status reports to the Space Force customers in a timely manner.Review completed team products and deliverables for full completeness, accuracy and acceptance. Develop high-level templates for engineering review board presentations.Perform concept analysis, analysis/review of designs and test plans, processes, procedures, functional and data requirements analysis, complex system analysis, and documentation preparation for complex systems.Support integration activities by conducting program plan development and maintenance, including performing launch vehicle mission trade studies, mission analysis, monitoring/ analyzing real-time launch vehicle data the development of mission-unique requirements and derived requirements identification, monitoring and verifying all launch vehicle and satellite vehicle interface requirements including satellite vehicle transportation and processing requirement, and Fleet Surveillance efforts.Have knowledge of details of performing welding assessments, manufacturing NDE assessments (such as leak check verifications on large pressure vessels like COPVs), and be able to compile and present concise weekly status charts from the team to Space Force customer leadership.Develop assessment criteria in preparation for engineering review boards and nominal mission assurance tasks.Successfully interface with a multi-disciplined team consisting of Space Force customers, and stakeholders to include Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) engineers, other contractors/vendors and government agencies, SpaceX engineers, project managers, and production personnel.Successfully manage close coordination with the space vehicle Program, launch vehicle contractor, operating location, Range, and other associated contractors and organizations.Participate in Engineering Review Boards and apply knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.Examine product design and its implementation to manufacturing processes assessing/evaluating the manufacturing baseline for qualification, capability, process control and maturity.Assess documentation for proper configuration management and change control.Assess/evaluate compliance with standards, specifications, drawings, procedures, work instructions, other contractual requirements, and the traceability to the functional and physical characteristics of configuration items.Generate assessment checklists of Launch Vehicle Service Provider Quality System Command Media Processes, Products, and conduct production floor assessments to verify documented processes are being followed.Review quality and manufacturing procedure and process changes to determine impact to process stability and manufacturing/reuse items such as Propulsion, Vehicle systems, Structures, and Avionics.Assess SpaceX facilities manufacturing capacity, production readiness, and vendor/supplier control requirements.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor''s Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering and or a STEM DisciplineMinimum of 8 years of relevant experience in related fieldExperienced in Falcon Friction Stir WeldingExperienced in Configuration ManagementHighly versed in Excel, Excel Data Tables, PowerBI and power point chartsExperience with production systems and subsystems (electronic assemblies, laminates, engines, tanks, pumps, etc.) manufacturing and testMust be a US CitizenAble to work in Hawthorne or El Segundo during work week on a regular basisAbility to maintain a DOD Secret ClearancePhysical Requirements:The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside an office environment to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.The person in this position will constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine and computer printer.The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers which may involve delivering presentations.
