The US Public Finance Water & Sewer Group covers nearly 400 retail and wholesale water and sewer systems throughout the United States, and roughly 40 state revolving fund issuers. Security ratings are assigned on system and project revenue bonds, as well as revolving fund revenue bonds. The team is comprised of 13 coverage analysts located in Austin, New York and San Francisco. Fitch Ratings is seeking a credit analyst with 10+ years of public finance and water and sewer experience to serve as the manager of the Water & Sewer Group coverage team. The position reports to one of the U.S. Public Finance Managing Directors, who is based in New York. The successful candidate will be based in Austin, New York or San Francisco. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Provide analytical leadership for Fitch''s U.S. Water & Sewer Group. • Nurture a positive credit and team culture, characterized by exemplary teamwork and a global orientation, while demonstrating a commitment to promoting culture of diversity, inclusion and empowerment. • Lead through, and act as an agent of change, with a view toward continuous improvement. • Develop analysts to assure a well-trained team that is equipped to be consistent, agile, and expansive in their analytical thinking. • Plan, allocate and monitor the group rating portfolio in a manner that aligns overall team resources and individual analytical competencies and development opportunities. • Play a leading role in the rating committee process, present constructive challenges and alternative credit considerations. • As a committee chairperson, ensure that the committee is conducted in accordance with Fitch policies and procedure; ensure a balance debate that entails a full range of views and credit outcomes. • Manage a portfolio of high-profile water and sewer credits as primary analyst. • Contribute to the development of rating criteria, outlook reports and sector research. • Maintain a strong external network and profile that continues to build Fitch''s reputation for analytical excellence by representing Fitch in a compelling and persuasive manner at industry conferences, webinars issuer meetings/site visits and media communication. • Foster high ethical standards and a culture of respect for all Fitch policies, procedures, criteria, the Code of Ethics and all applicable laws and regulations. • Work with leadership and Fitch''s Business & Relationship Management (BRM) team to develop and execute a strategy designed to achieve Fitch''s goal of becoming the go-to rating agency for water and sewer system ratings Position Requirements: • Candidate should ideally possess a bachelor''s degree in Finance, Business or Accounting and 10+ years relevant work experience with a strong credit background; graduate degree and prior managerial experience, a plus. • Viewed by inside and outside parties as an industry expert and analytical leader. • Demonstrates broad knowledge and insight of the water and sewer sector and municipal market. • Strong communication skills both verbal and written. • Builds trust and establishes highly effective networks with all constituents. • Leads by example and takes personal responsibility for the performance of the team. • Sets the direction and leads on multiple tasks, projects and services in a fast paced, transaction-oriented environment. • Drives and initiates collaboration between teams and other areas of Fitch. • Resolves conflicts and difficult situations in a constructive and professional manner. • Ability and interest to travel as necessary to support Fitch''s nationwide issuer base and outreach efforts.
