Union County College is a public comprehensive community college providing quality, affordable, accessible educational programs that serve the greater Union County region. It is the oldest of New Jerseys 19 Associate Degree Colleges, serving both career-minded and transfer-oriented students since 1933. The College enrolls almost 30,000 credit, non-credit and continuing education students and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Many programs lead to the Associate in Arts, Science and Applied Science degrees. Campus: Elizabeth, PlainfieldGeneral Description: The Student Services Generalist serves to support the academic success of Hispanic adult students enrolled in targeted healthcare programs. The Generalist will provide proactive and intentional advisement; connect students to the programs services and academic resources; and monitor retention, course completion, and licensure pass rates. In collaboration with the Student Development and Academic Affairs Divisions, the Generalist will coordinate test preparation and study skills sessions, tutoring services, and other services to support the needs of the students.Characteristics, Duties and Responsibilities: Develops academic and individual action plans for Progresando students to guide students toward on-time graduation Implements student retention programs Assists students with the registration process by providing academic advising, basic financial aid assistance or handoff to financial aid counselor to resolve unusual issues, and guidance for completion of registration and payment. Assists students with my Union portal, Self-Service, college e-mail i, tuition/fee payment instruction, and information on internal and external scholarship opportunities. Coordinates project programming for tutorial services, test preparation and study skills sessions, and other related academic support services. Assists with campus previews, new student orientations, financial literacy, and related programs and provides on-going information to students and potential students regarding policies and procedures and the targeted academic programs. Interprets and communicates college policies and procedures. Collaborates with staff, faculty, and administrators to assess the projects activities and implement needed adjustments, as needed. Maintains data of students served and services provided Maintains project files for reporting Provides reports on project implementation, activities, and data, as needed Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.Education Requirements: Bachelors degree required.Experience: Outstanding customer service and communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).Competencies and Skills Required: Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
