Responsibilities The Distinguished System Engineer will be responsible for project leadership, developing core technologies, conceiving innovative solutions, and delivering technical products in support of Draper''s National Security and Space (NS&S) business area. Leveraging Draper''s expertise in guidance navigation and control (GN&C), fault-tolerant avionics, autonomy, miniature electronics and embedded systems, and System Security Engineering, the candidate will support the NS&S mission areas in developing early stage concepts all the way through to fully-functional deployed solutions. Qualifications * BS, MS, or PhD degree in mechanical, electrical, computer, or aerospace engineering with at least 20 years of experience in mission critical project leadership and management. * Demonstrated history of project management/leadership of complicated systems with many disciplines coming together to form an integrated solution. * Experience in systems engineering, including, but not limited to requirements development and analysis, conceptual development, detailed design, risk management, integration and test, verification and validation, and qualification testing. * Developing and maturing applicable core technologies through research and development activities, crafting innovative solutions, and technical excellence in project execution. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be a highly motivated, self-starter with willingness to learn and participate in a team environment. * Demonstrated ability to develop effective collaborations with government, industry, and academia. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in working with and applying model-based systems engineering best practices to design, develop, build, and transition the systems into fielded use. * Experience in capturing new business through leading and supporting the writing of technical proposals, authoring of white papers, and briefing materials. Security Requirement * Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a United States government security clearance and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
