What you will be doing: The National Space Defense Group Information System Security Manager (ISSM) establishes policies and procedures to protect computer systems and networks across the Tyto National Space Defense Group. Responsibilities: * Serve as the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) for the National Space Defense Facility in Colorado Springs, CO. * Select, install, and use security software, such as data encryption programs and firewalls. * Monitor, document, and research any security breaches to improve system security, and set up emergency plans for lockdown and/or recovery of sensitive information. The following chart gives you an overview of entering this field. * Analyze, plan, design, implement, document, assess, and manage the enterprise structural framework to align IT strategy, plans, and systems with the mission, goals, structure, and processes of the organization. * Identify vulnerabilities in our current network. * Develop and implementing a comprehensive plan to secure our computing network. * Monitor network usage to ensure compliance with security policies. * Keep up to date with developments in IT security standards and threats. * Perform penetration tests to find any flaws. * Collaborate with management, and Government IT team to improve security. * Document any security breaches and assessing their damage. * Educate colleagues about security software and best practices for information security. * Perform and comply with DOD 8570 functions as applicable: * Securely integrate and apply Department/Agency missions, organization, function, policies, and procedures within the enclave * Ensure IAT Levels I - III, IAM Levels I and II, and anyone with privileged access performing IA functions receive the necessary initial and sustaining IA training and certification(s) to carry out their IA duties * Ensure information ownership responsibilities are established for each DoD IS and implement a role-based access scheme * Evaluate proposals to determine if proposed security solutions effectively address enclave requirements, as detailed in solicitation documents * Evaluate cost benefit, economic and risk analysis in decision-making process * Interpret patterns of non-compliance to determine their impact on levels of risk and/or overall effectiveness of the enclave''s IA program * Ensure that security related provisions of the system acquisition documents meet all identified security needs * Evaluate and approve development efforts to ensure that baseline security safeguards are appropriately installed * Travel to National Space Defense Group and other locations upon Tyto Direction. * Travel requirement: Approximately 5% Minimum Requirements * Demonstrated Level 3 DOD 8570 Compliance in Info Assurance Technical and/or Info Assurance Management (preferred). Equivalent certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), ISACA Certified Info Sys Auditor/Manager (CISA/M), GIAC Security Expert (GSE), GIAC Certified Enterprise Defender (GCED), GIAC Cyber Security Leadership Certification (GSLC) or CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+) will qualify. * DoD Top Secret/SSBI required (or must be eligible to obtain SCI) * 3 or more years of related IT and/or network experience * Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills * Good written and oral communication skills, including interpersonal and negotiation skills * Ability to use Visio, Microsoft PowerPoint, Project, Excel and Word * (Desired) Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams of Military and technical managers preferred * Ability to travel as needed Equal Opportunity Employer: Disability/Veteran In compliance with Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$140,000.00.
