The Sr. Network Engineer is a responsible for the voice, data and security systems that are core to the data infrastructure of FirstHealth of the Carolinas. Responsibilities, depending on existing corporate need, include: Installation, upgrade and maintenance of network routing and switching hardware and software; VoIP communications and IP-based telephony systems; wireless networking infrastructure and management software; video surveillance equipment; firewall, intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, and other security-related systems Accountable for performing day-to-day system administrative functions in an efficient manner Compliance with established network configuration standards and best practices Provide management with understandable and actionable information regarding networking assets Promotes a positive and professional image of the Information Systems Department and of FirstHealth of the Carolinas Uses data analysis tools and systems along with proven expertise to ensure optimum performance and uptime of the FHC voice, data and security network Researches, develops and evaluates networking solutions in support of complex business requirements Ability to act autonomously in maintaining the corporate network Ownership over all facets of the corporate network, including performing needs analysis given the current environment and future requirements Definition of acceptable service level thresholds and monitoring compliance with those thresholds, with immediate and decisive action taken when alerts are received Responsible for of accuracy of, and timely updates to, full and complete documentation of all network devices including both logical and physical configurations The Sr. Network Engineer will work with technical staff, IS Management and key personnel from other departments to identify, recommend, implement and support cost-effective solutions for all aspects of the organization. Education and Formal Training: Two year degree in Technology, Computer Science, Network Communications or Information Assurance, or equivalent combination of education and advanced industry experience Work Experience: Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible, work-related experience implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the existing (or similar) networking equipment, including Cisco routers, switches, IOS, NX-OS, LAN, WLAN, WAN, EIGRP, OSPF, eBGP, IPv6, Layer 2, Layer 3, advanced IP addressing and routing, security management, ASA, CSM, firewall, IPS, Unified Communications, VoIP, QoS, Wireless, IP PBX, ITP, and CIPVS systems. Other related Information Systems experience is also preferred. Certification: Certification as a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent advanced industry work experience beyond the minimum is required. Additionally, certification in one of the following Cisco certifications is preferred: CCNP Voice CCNP Wireless CCNP Security CCNP Data Center CCIE Also Required: Knowledge of network troubleshooting and analysis tools and techniques; knowledge of network management analysis tools; knowledge of enterprise-level routers, switches, IP Telephony systems and wireless networking ; knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, SIP, and DNS; knowledge of security systems such as ASA firewall, VPN, and IPS. After successful completion of a 90 day probationary period, position will be primarily remote.
