Position Requirements:Graduate of AMA Approved Program inRadiologic Technology2~3 years experience as Radiologic Technologist40 hours of specialized training and continuingeducation in mammographyKnowledge of breast anatomyRegistered Radiologic Technologist/ARRTEMA LicensePurpose:Coordinate the activities of the Mammography and Diagnostic Departments, ensuring that all functions are carried out according to policies and procedures. Perform a wide variety of Mammography and Diagnostic procedures, providing examinations of optimal quality for the diagnosis and treatment of illness and injury.Accountabilities:Accountable for coordination of daily operational activities of Mammography and Diagnostic Departments.Accountable for giving direction and instructions to Mammography and Diagnostic Technologists in the execution of present Mammography and Diagnostic protocols, also providing direction for nursing staff in monitoring of patients.Accountable for maintenance of department compliance with Accrediting Organization and departmental established safety standards to ensure patient and staff well being at all times.Accountable for maintaining good relations when dealing with all persons encountered in daily performance of job.Accountable for obtaining documentation for departmental records related to patient statistics, supplies, patient billing and preservation of patient records maintained in Mammography and Diagnostic Departments.Need to recognize patients experiencing fear oranxietyNeeds to be able to recognize needs andbehaviors of a variety of age groups ofpatients treated, i.e. understand the differencesof female growth and development, and lookfor signs of normal aging degree of under~standing and physical limitation related to ageGood communication skillsAbility to handle anxious and fearful patientsDemonstrated technical skills as a radiographerKnowledge of film quality control and filmprocessingMust demonstrate confidence in one''s own ability and have a calming effect on patients and othersthere is little opportunity to sitrequires extensive pulling, lifting, bending, stooping, reaching, and pushingmany physical movements are repetitive in nature associated ailments include carpel tunnel syndrome,backaches and knee and foot problemsexposure to ionizing radiationmust operate in a fast paced environmentIf position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.
