Security Officer/Visitor Management, Wilson Hospital United Health Services is seeking a Security Officer to join our Wilson Medical Center team in Johnson City, NY. This is a benefits-eligible position. Shift: Days Hours per week: 40 Salary range: $15.00 - $20.25/hour, depending on experience Security Officer/Visitor Management Position Overview As a part of the Security team you will perform a variety of security and safety related functions while being involved in the safeguarding of employees, patients, visitors, physicians, and property. UHS Wilson Medical Center is a 280-bed hospital and Level II Trauma Center. In this position, youll serve a medical facility that is a regional leader in cardiac surgery, neurosurgery and neurosciences, cancer care, maternity and high-risk obstetrics, neonatal intensive care, blood disorder treatment, and physical therapy and rehabilitation. Wilson is a bustling hospital and is a 24-hour designated stroke and chest pain center. Security Officer/Visitor Management Responsibilities and Expectations+ + Provides a positive experience to all customers Acts as a deterrent to theft and vandalism Acts to resolve safety-related issues Assists in conducting all fire drills within the hospital, (stands guard at their entrance Visitor Management) Responsible for the collection of all lost and found items, including but not limited to proper documentation, assists in determining location of the owner(s) of property when possible In addition to the above, the Security Officer and/or Visitor Management position perform the following essential functions: SECURITY OFFICER Performs a variety of duties to include, but not limited to, continuous patrols within the hospital as well as medical offices owned, operated and/or leased by UHS| Conducts continuous exterior patrols including parking areas Is present in parking areas during hospital shift changes Routinely provides escorts to staff and visitors upon request Provides motor assist vehicle assistance to staff and visitors, including but not limited to jump start of vehicles, assist with flat tires Responds to calls for morgue duty, including but not limited to, transport of deceased patients to the morgue, proper release of deceased patients to funeral homes Upon request, collects and inventories patient valuables and secures them in the Hospital safe until called for Conducts inventories of all possessions for mental health-related patients, upon request to secure and/or return patient valuables Conducts daily lock and unlock of numerous doors in several buildings on and/or off campus Responds to all alarm activations and emergency codes, investigates cause, and acts appropriately Upon request, provides patient transport of diabetic care patients Provides one on one observation of psychiatric/behavioral patients when requested Assists in patient restraints Acts as Hazmat first responders and Code Green Response team members Responsible for enforcement of all parking regulations and traffic control Removes snow and ice from hospital entrances, sidewalks and/or parking lots Recommends call-in of Snow Teams in the event of unsafe conditions in parking areas as a result of snow or ice Provides after-hours visitation escorts Provides comprehensive documentation on a variety of incidents using Security forms and submits for review by Security and Hospital Administration Keeps a daily activity log of all activities and calls for service Understand the Security Department Performance Improvement Plan and conducts safety inspections and tests to include but not be limited to ID Badge Check, Maternity Intercom Checks, and Parking lot/Sidewalk Checks (lighting concerns, potholes, trip hazards, etc.) Assists with providing Valet Services to patients, staff, and visitors upon request Provides after-hours linen, medical records and other Internal Transport-related services Escorts and/or transfers pharmaceutical supplies and medications Hangs and retires flags Provides initial investigation for all theft-related incidents Understands report writing system and completes all reports timely VISITOR MANAGEMENT Adheres to the Visitor Management Policy and all other UHS policies and procedures Uses the United Health Services scripts to communicate information to all persons Conducts oneself in a professional manger to all persons who enter the facilities Maintains a presence at entrances at all times while doors are unlocked Understands the Security Department Performance Improvement Plan and conducts safety inspections to include but not be limited to ID Badge Check, Issuance of Visitor Badge Assesses the needs of the person entering the facility (ie wheelchair, escort) Coordinates after-hours visitation escorts (from the Emergency Room entrance) Responsible for the collection and documentation of lost and found items turned into them, and assist in determining location of owner of property, when possible Assists with providing Valet Services to patients, staff and visitors upon request Position Qualifications Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent One year experience in a customer service related field Must have valid drivers license and good driving record Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation Must meet requirements of New York State Security Guard Licensing Program Preferred: One year experience in a Security related field Employee Benefits at United Health Services When you work at United Health Services, you become part of our family.
