SUMMARY The Construction Inspector will perform a broad range technical review and advisory/assistance for project management support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the Civil Engineering Flight (CEN) 366th Civil Engineer Squadron (366 CES), Mountain Home Air Force Base (MHAFB). For future and ongoing needs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Includes the following: * Inspects daily all assigned construction projects for conformance to contract documents * Coordinates contractor access on base to project site * Monitors dig permit status * Prepares daily inspection logs for all projects * Takes photographs as required to document construction progress * Updates NEXGEN IT with relevant project data using current AF Business Rules * Coordinates with the Project Manager to ensure submittals and RFIs are reviewed and responses provided within 7 days of receipt * Performs assessments, evaluations, analysis, reports, presentations, management-level project cost and schedules reviews, and other products for use in support of assigned projects * Identifies immediately to the Project Manager any condition which will require a modification to the contract * Prepares DD Form 1354, Transfer and Acceptance of Military Real Property in NEXGEN IT no later than 10 days after project acceptance * Provides project status to project manager or leadership as requested but at a minimum of 1-time weekly utilizing designated reporting database or spreadsheet as determined by the government * Prepares and review of statements of work, cost estimates, submittals, and request for information * Assists with monthly tracking of Contractor funding, expenditures, balances, and overall funding status along with projecting burn rates through appropriate periods of performance * Understands, articulates, and implements best practices related to government construction management, budget and acquisitions * Performs other job-related duties as assigned SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY * No supervisory or managerial authority. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE * Bachelors Degree in Construction Management or related field from an ABET-accredited university is highly desired * 10 years of construction experience to include facilities and infrastructure * 5 years within the last 10 years must be in construction inspection of Air Force or Department of Defense (DoD) facility and infrastructure military construction projects KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES * Knowledge of DoD design and construction policies and standards * Knowledge of construction techniques in various fields such as civil, mechanical, electrical, architectural, plumbing * Ability to effectively communicate with construction contractors, engineers, project managers * Knowledge of project scheduling and ability to read project schedules * Knowledge of safety practices in the construction industry * Knowledge of engineering and architectural plans and specifications sufficient to read and interpret construction requirements * Knowledge of materials, workmanship, and construction work * Knowledge of practical methods and techniques of engineering principles * Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills. * Advanced MS Word, MS Excel, and Specs Intact skills * Ability to closely coordinate contract administration with internal and external stakeholders * Ability to organize and gather project data, conduct analysis, prepare reports and provide recommendations without assistance * Ability to impute data and producing reports from ACES-PM and NexGen IT * Ability to travel locally * Must be able to provide proof of US Citizenship * Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance * Must be able to pass a drug screen and background investigation WORK ENVIRONMENT * Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office setting Pursuant to U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, Cherokee Federal is now requiring that all employees be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by December 8th and going forward.
