Find your future with us.The Boeing Space and Launch Software Development & Integration (SDI) team is seeking a Software Engineering Manager (Level K) in Colorado Springs, CO. The software manager will manage personnel who develop satellite communications ground/mission software.The Space and Launch team builds the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with commercial, government, and proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements, design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.The software function is seeking a software engineering manager to help the team develop a new Global Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) Ground System that will manage transmission of protected tactical waveform - a type of secure, anti-jam communication - over Boeing-built Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) satellites and terminals.Position Responsibilities:Manage staffing needs and grow the skills/capabilities of the organization.Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and partners.Manager will develop and motivate employees.Manager must be adept in building working relationships with the engineering community.Manager will forecast, obtain and manage personnel to meet project and organizational requirements.Determines critical skills within an organization or functional area; develops and implements staffing plans to ensure necessary skills are available within the company.This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.Security Clearance and Investigation:This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain a final Secret U.S. Security Clearance Post-Start is required.Required Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience): Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance (Post-Start)Bachelor, Master or Doctorate degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree.1+ years of experience leading or managing projects and/or teams.1+ years of experience leading teams using Agile software development practices.Experience in team building, coaching, leading teams, motivating and engaging team members.Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance.Experience with satellite ground mission capabilities.Experience with on-orbit engineering support.Experience at successfully managing and being part of a complex IPT to produce results within budget, on schedule, and to performance requirements.Experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines.Experience with microservice containerized software architectures.Typical Education/Experience: (Which education do you want to use?Typical education and experience described in our standard level guides are aligned to the type and number of years of experience/education required to perform the job in industry.
