Overview Axient is currently seeking a Test Safety Engineer to support our customer in El Segundo, CA. Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Responsible for the development, review, and implementation of test engineering system safety programs throughout the Systems Space Command (SSC) programs portfolio * Provides training modules related to test system safety engineering fundamentals and applicable guidance, reference, and policy documents to support training events * Collaborates with AFSEC/SEG/SES, AFMC/SES, and AFOTEC/SE on system and test safety matters * Evaluates reportable test mishap report quality and monitors open mishap recommendations to closure * Ensuring DoD, MIL-STD 882E multi-safety discipline compliance * Attends and represents SSC/CC at DAF systems safety symposiums * Evaluates effectiveness of system and test safety programs across SSC throughout the system life-cycle * Provides recommendations, updates, and generates supplemental safety guidance as needed * Promotes mishap prevention, system safety adherence, and risk management fundamentals across the SSC system portfolio * Other activities as directed Qualifications Minimum Requirements: * 10 years of experience applying system safety engineering requirements and best practices to space and launch systems, ground site activities and launch operations * Experience with the test and evaluation of space, ground, and/or launch systems * BS degree in a STEM field; will consider less experience in lieu of advanced degrees (8 years of experience with MS degree) * MS degree in STEM preferred * Experience interfacing with computer-based databases * Excellent written and oral communication skills * Some CONUS travel required * Must have an active and transferable DoD security clearance with current investigation at the required level. Must be able to maintain the required clearance. Must meet applicable COVID safety requirements and protocols
