Description of WorkNOW OFFERING NEW SIGN-ON BONUS OF $2,000.00!!Welcome to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety (DPS), Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice, Section of Prisons Administration. We have a mission that matters!Position is a HEALTH CARE TECHNICIAN II located at Maury Correctional Institution in Hookerton, NC. This facility houses approximately 1504 of minimum, medium or close custody female or male offenders. The Health Care Technician II will participate in the delivery of health services for the offender population in accordance with the NC Nurse Practice Act and DPS Prisons Health Services Policy and Procedure. The Health Care Technician II will be responsible for all aspects of medication administration to include transcribing orders, ordering and storing medications and supplies, administering medication and treatments, documentation of medication administration and treatment, observing and reporting medication effectiveness, side effects and reinforcing patient education provided by the nurse and/or physician. The Health Care Technician II will provide additional nursing skills as declared by the licensure. The Health Care Technician II must successfully complete the Medication Technician course and competency evaluation mandated by the Department of Public Safety once employed.This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits.Note to Current State Employees:The salary grade for this position is MH02. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.This position is currently located within the Department of Public Safety but will transfer to the Department of Adult Correction when it is established on January 01, 2023.
