Description of JobGENERAL SUMMARY:Front Range Community College''s (FRCC) Fiscal Services department processes and accounts for all financial transactions of the College. As the Accounting Technician III, you will perform General Ledger financial obligations: prepare journal entries; perform reconciliations between Banner Fixed Asset Module and General Ledger; monitor and account for all controlled and equipment (fixed assets) owned by the College; and conform to states rules and regulation requirements (disposition of fixed assets).DUTIES:Physical Inventory of all College Equipment* Perform physical inventory of all College equipment (fixed assets). This shall include an extensive physical inventory of all campuses and sites between April and June of each fiscal year and periodic physical inventories at each campuses and sites during the remainder of the fiscal year. Controlled Assets inventory will be performed between October and December of each year. Produce inventory lists from Banner Fixed Asset Module and excel ''non capital assets'' to gather inventory information in order to compare to actual inventory found. Work with Directors and Deans in order to find missing inventory items and document the results.Surplus and Disposal of Fixed Assets* Compile requests received from College staff for State Surplus and dispose of equipment (fixed assets). Prepare required approval requisition documents for requested action and submit to appropriate agencies. Prepare written correspondence to requestor after approval notification is received. Manage the disposal of all Federally Funded restricted equipment by coordinating with Grants in ensure accuracy. Maintain Banner Fixed Asset Module for any changes to inventory, record disposals and verify all entries to General ledger.Tagging and Maintaining Banner Fixed Asset Module* Oversee the tagging of all equipment (fixed assets) received by the College for all campuses. Maintain Banner Fixed Asset Module for all purchases of capital equipment equal to or over $5,000.00 and maintain excel file for those which are under the $5,000.00. Records new additions into TME and BFAM.Reconciliation of Banner Fixed Asset Module to General Ledger* Reconcile the fixed asset balances from Banner Fixed Asset Module to General Ledger. Make necessary entries as needed.Year End Processing and Reporting* Review all general ledger entries greater than $3,500 charged to the expense account codes starting with ''72'' to make sure no other purchases should be capitalized. Perform all necessary processes for corrections. Make sure all fixed assets are setup and ready for depreciation for the end of the fiscal year. Produce all required reports as necessary. Perform all tasks as assigned by supervisor.Other Duties as Assigned* Serve as backup to travel reimbursement requests. Review monthly travel report. Reconcile P-Card monthly activity to monthly Bank statement tracking outstanding items. Perform month-end and year-end duties as assigned according to the associated checklists. Help with Fiscal Services with special out of the ordinary projects. This could also be audit requests. Procedure maintenance for Data Entry and Fixed Asset processes.Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal RightsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Three (3) years of technical accounting experience. Daily interaction with students, faculty and staff require that this position have strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. (Part-time experience will be pro-rated)SUBSTITUTION:Three years of college, university or non-correspondence business school course work from an accredited institution which included eighteen (18) semester credit hours of accounting or bookkeeping can substitute for the required experience. Oversee tagging and disposal of fixed assets. Reconciliation of fixed asset balances.* Communication: Communicate accurate information to all customers in person, on the phone or through email.* Customer Service: Answer questions, respond to requests timely in a timely fashion.* Attention to Detail: Perform tasks related to inventory, fixed assets and account reconciliation.* Computer Skills: Using computers for everyday tasks; working with various software such as Microsoft Office Suite; Banner and other software.* Time Management/Prioritization: Prioritize tasks related to annual physical inventory of fixed assets. Reconcile accounts.* Critical Thinking/Problem Solving: Conduct annual fixed assets inventory; Year-end processing.
