Responsibilities for this PositionRequisition Number: 9317Location: Joint Systems Manufacturing Center - Lima, OHPosition Type: Full-Time RegularEducation Required: Associates DegreeRelocation Provided: NoExperience Required: 1 - 3 YearsDepartment: Quality Engineering - Mgt - L2274 (Direct)Position Description:In this Quality Engineer position, the successful candidate will function as a quality representative for the manufacturing of various military vehicle programs, including but not limited to the Abrams Main Battle Tank. The selected individual in this position will function as/or perform:* JSMC quality representative interfacing with GDLS division program, Manufacturing & Customer Support (M&CS) division staff and customer program staff at all levels.* Develop and implement program quality plans, programs and procedures using quality control statistics, lean manufacturing concepts and six-sigma tools and analysis.* Perform root cause analysis and corrective action activities.* Manufacturing and quality expert for rectifying and resolving manufacturing issues at the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center (JSMC) location.* Review, analyze and report on quality discrepancies related to assembly, processes, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems.* Interface with manufacturing, engineering, customer, supplier and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met.Position Requirements:* Bachelor degree desired. Associates Degree with applicable production and leadership experience may be accepted.* Must be at least 18 years of age and a US citizen.* Must be able to obtain unescorted access to the facility through the vetting process as administered by the Department of Army Police.* Must be able to obtain / maintain DOD security clearance.* Must be able to meet Anthropometric Size Requirements (ASR) for military vehicle safe entry.* Must be able to work independently or with minimum oversight to address responsibilities.* Must have good time management skills.* Must be able to work in a teaming environment with unionized workforce employees.* Ability to effectively interact with customer representatives and MC&S and GDLS at various levels of their respective organizations.* Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015. Experience as internal or external ISO auditor desired.* Ability to read blueprints, drawings and models. Interpret quality requirements.* Experience in statistical analysis of data trending (Green Belt type projects) desired.Working Conditions & Environment:* Using ladders and stairs to climb into/onto vehicle structures.* Climbing, walking, bending, kneeling, standing and stooping.* Lifting up to 50 lbs.* This position requires working both in office and manufacturing floor environments.* Working in and around dust, fumes, oils, mists, adhesives and in areas with a high noise volume.* Working in hot and cold environments.General Dynamics is a successful Fortune 100, global aerospace and defense company, with over 90,000 employees world-wide.
