Responsibilities for this PositionEngineer - Embedded SWUS-CT-GrotonJob ID: 2022-7928Type: Full-Time of Openings: 1Category: EngineeringEB Groton ShipyardOverviewDepartment 454 Tactical Software Engineering applies software and computer engineering skills to specify, design, develop, integrate, test, and subcontract manage software development for US Navy Nuclear Submarines.Collaborating with systems engineers, tactical submarine software is developed and maintained for a variety of submarine platforms and control systems such as: Ship Control, Combat Launch Control, Weapons Stowage and Handling, as well as other specialized embedded real-time safety critical shipboard and database systems, simulators, and land based trainers.This role will be working with the Atlassian products Jira and Confluence, supporting upgrades, reporting, and configuration of the development applications to aid in our software development evnvironment.What you will do:* Configure and maintain Jira / Confluence projects and spaces* Create and maintain Jira projects, workflows, permissions, notifications, and custom fields* Create and maintain Confluence spaces, archive, move and purge content as needed* Work with software teams to identify procedural efficiencies, such as with Jira workflows, custom fields, etc.* Identify, track and resolve issues and trends through usage reports.* Identify and communicate gaps between the development team''s current and desired end-states* Provide project status, progress, and potential delay information to DevOps and System Admin functional teams* Work with Development and Systems Admin leadership, as part of oversight role, driving cost-effective and value-add Atlassian tool standards* Lead and support all application administrative functions of Jira and Confluence, and Crowd* Manage Jira and Confluence application upgrades and maintenance, including development, staging and production launches* Support Atlassian related licensing and license review efforts* Maintain and update documentation related to operations and support* Understand and adhere to EB network security compliance requirements of IT Privacy and Security Policies and Procedures* Engage with the EB Atlassian Jira/Confluence community to understand and drive best practices* Engage with Atlassian support and Marketplace vendors, as needed, to resolve issues* Provide demos and training of all JIRA/Confluence ToolsQualificationsRequired:* BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area* 3+ years performing application administration for Atlassian products Jira and Confluence, supporting upgrades, reporting and configuration* Software development, software development support, or related experiencesPreferred:* Familiar with SDLC and project management best practices* Working knowledge of Agile software development methodology, to include release planning and deployment* Experience with cross-functional team Dashboard creation* 2+ years Jira related experience supporting a Scrum or Kanban environment* 2+ years of experience with JQL* 2+ years of experience creating Jira projects, workflows, permissions, notifications, and custom fields* 2+ years of experience building custom user macros for Confluence* Working knowledge of SQL and RDBMS* Experience with change management and enterprise adoption of standardized tools and processes
