Description Public Affairs Specialist - NAWCAD (NAWCAD-22-0160-F): Bowhead is seeking to network with a Public Affairs Specialist for a potential upcoming requirement in support of the Corporate Operations Department, Corporate Communications Division at Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division (NSWC IHD). Essential functions for the Public Affairs Specialist include, but are not limited to: • Create and edit articles, news releases, fact sheets, talking points and other written content to stimulate internal and external interest in command accomplishments and enhance understanding of the command, its workforce and mission • Cultivate relationships with the organization''s leadership, staff, and collateral duty public affairs officers to identify and pursue story ideas • Participate in regular meetings (in-person and virtual) to stay abreast of organizational accomplishments and to keep the organization informed of current and upcoming public relations activities • Respond to requests from federal public affairs officers for information in response to external media queries • Work with editors of other internal publications to repurpose content for use in their publications • Identify appropriate media outlets and venues for written content to assist the federal public affairs officer in placing stories for wider dissemination • Provide photo and video support for in-person and virtual events and ceremonies, including working with IT specialists to provide live-streaming capability • Help leadership communicate effectively with the their employees and the general public • Help maintain the organization''s corporate image and identity • Ensure audiovisual records of events are preserved for internal documentation purposes • Draft speeches, talking points and presentations for the organization''s leadership • Evaluate outreach programs to determine whether they are compatible with the organization''s public relations efforts • Prepare, submit and monitor customer requests for public-release review of written and audiovisual materials • Develop and implement strategic communications objectives and goals in conjunction with organizational directives as requested, and provide regular updates to leadership on goal accomplishments Requirements In accordance with Executive Order 14042: Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors, candidates should be aware that they may be required to have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire. BS or BA degree in communication, journalism, or a related writing-intensive field with 3 - 5 years of experience. Must have a solid command of writing articles, captions and other products in Associated Press style. SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
