Software Engineer (ARPA) with Security Clearance

Description VSolvit has an opening for a System Engineer 3 to support a variety of projects at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Corona modernize decision support systems for ship maintenance. The successful candidate will learn how to manage the desktop applications in support of customer requirements. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor''s degree in computer science or a closely related data field and be able to communicate effectively with the development team. He or she must be inquisitive and able to work independently to identify, clarify and document system requirements. This position is required to be on-site at the NORCO base. Responsibilities include: * Creates and maintains software tools using C++ and various toolkits building GUIs (e.g. FOX Toolkit), automating builds, storing and organizing large amounts of data (e.g. HDF5), and compressing/decompressing data * Creates and maintains software tools using Python * Improves code quality and code security by using static code analysis and unit testing tools * Takes user requirements and generates functional specifications * Converts project requirements into code * Ensures development is done adhering to coding/development standardsWorking knowledge of: * Principles and practices common to production software development * Version control * Code libraries * Design patterns * Source control systems * Software documentation * Code reviews * Testing tools and methodology * Software release management Basic Qualifications * 6+ years experience developing applications using C++ in an object-oriented environment * 2+ years experience with Visual Studio * U.S. Citizenship * Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance Degree/Certification: * Bachelor''s degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent) plus a minimum of two years of software development experience or * AA degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science plus a minimum of four years of software development experience or * Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP) plus a minimum of four years of software development experience **VSolvit will extend a contingent offer and sponsor for a clearance** Preferred Qualifications: * 8+ years of experience developing full stack applications using C++ in an object-oriented environment * Experience using Git and Atlassian Jira * Experience using MATLAB * This position is required to be on-site at the NORCO base.
