We are seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Nursing/Nurse Educator to plan and deliver competency-based education and training programs for Health Services staff across the continuum including independent living, assisted care and skilled nursing. This position will provide backup to the Director of Nursing Services and will be required to rotate work hours based on staff training needs to ensure quality of health services to Brookhaven residents. Qualifications include RN (BSN preferred), experience in long-term care/post-acute care setting, two to three years of experience in an educator role and knowledge of state and federal regulations.Sign on bonus available - $2,000 total!$1,000 paid after 3 months, additional $1,000 paid after 6 months Responsibilities:Staff Development:Plan, organize and implement orientation and competency-based training programs for all Nursing Center, Resident Health and Assisted Care employees; maintain documentation of program and attendance for each employee.Conduct educational needs assessments for staff, train on new policies and procedures, quality initiatives, infection control and equipment use, and include other departments'' staff as appropriate.Review clinical data and observations from rounds that could serve as indicator of staff needs for education and training.Ensure competency evaluation of all new Nursing Center employees upon hire and annually.Support all infection control initiatives with training and audits to ensure compliance.Programs and Services:Create and maintain high quality programs that meet and exceed Resident expectations.Maintain commitment to excellence in carrying out responsibilities and promote a person centered approach to care planning and problem solving.Assist in the development and maintenance of nursing policies, procedures, manuals, plans of correction, and new and ongoing initiatives.Perform the job responsibilities of Director of Nursing Services as needed.Maintain confidentiality for all pertinent patient care information to assure that patient rights are protected.Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Qualifications:Possess current R. N. licensure, (BSN preferred) in Massachusetts.At least 2-3 years'' experience in an educator role in long-term care/post-acute care setting, preferable using a competency based approach.Prior experience as a Unit Manager preferred.Brookhaven offers its employees competitive wages, subsidized medical and dental insurance, generous paid time off and participation in retirement plan.
