Mechanical Designer8918 Beckett Rd., West Chester, OH 45069SSSUPFull-time Shift(s): MON TUE WED THU FRI 7:00am - 5:00pmOVERVIEW:Working as Full-time Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for supporting the Fastenal Managed Inventory (FMI) Technology team in developing new and existing products within the FAST Solutions platform. You will be a design specialist who uses engineer specifications to create models, drawings, and technical documentation. You will work closely with engineers, other design specialists to ensure designs are functional, efficient and safe.RESPONSIBILITIES:The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:o Working with outside design contractors to ensure the design projects meet Fastenal requirementso Coordinating designs with product engineering, electrical engineering, IT, testing, operations and supporto Maintaining product documentation: models, drawings, tooling, test fixtures, Bills of Materials and other technical documentationo Scheduling, track and report on individual engineering taskso Processing engineering changes and technical documentation revisions associated with product updates and quality issueso Tracking and assisting suppliers with issues and documentation revisions associated with new or updated productso Coordinating the fabrication of models or samples from working drawings and specification sheetso Participating in design reviews to ensure sound mechanical design of productso Traveling as the position requireso Completing other tasks and responsibilities based on business needsREQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:o Possess a current full valid driver''s license issued in the country where the job is located (including successful completion of any applicable graduated license program for your state or province) as well as the ability to meet our driving record requirements to use a company vehicle, as neededo Possess a bachelor''s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field of studyo Excellent written and oral communication skillso Proficient using Microsoft Office Suiteo Highly motivated, self directed and customer service orientedo Demonstrate strong problem solving and deductive reasoning skillso Demonstrate strong organizational, planning and prioritizing abilitieso Learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environmento Work independently as well as in a team environmento Willingness to travel, with some overnights requiredo Demonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamworko Lift, slide, carry and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs and may weigh up to 75lbso Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)PREFERRRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:o Previous experience using PDM systemso Proficient using Solid Works modeling and drawingso Possess at least 2 years in a mechanical designer role or related technical disciplineABOUT US:Since 1967 Fastenal has grown as a distributor of industrial and construction supplies from a single branch to a Fortune 500 company with approximately 3,200 servicing locations, each providing tailored local inventory and personal service for our customers.
