Project/Unit Description The Sensor Systems Engineering Division is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and fielding of novel and complex digital and RF systems. These include radar systems, electronic warfare systems, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) systems.Work performed in the division includes system design, development of system specifications, design and development of custom circuits and systems, test and delivery of systems, and operational support of systems in the field. Job Purpose RF/Radar Systems Engineers work with a team to perform advanced system and algorithm development using established systems engineering approaches. Based on detailed trade studies and requirements analyses, radar systems engineers develop solutions to satisfy system requirements and perform functions related to all aspects of radar system design. These functions include the development of the complete architectural design of radar systems, investigation and development of new algorithms to advance key sensor capabilities by leveraging signal processing techniques and novel waveform development, development of detailed simulations of algorithms and systems for design verification or to facilitate operational software development, the design of sensor modes that maximize sensor performance, the collection and analysis of data from laboratory or flight tests, and formal verification that the final design solution meet all system requirements. Key Responsibilities * Develop requirements and direct others to perform design and theory research and lab testing tasks as task lead * Mentor others in developing methods and expertise in broad areas of design, theory, and testing as task lead * Document work of design, theory, and test in written and presentation form as team lead. Coordinate documentation inputs from team * Primary lead on the development of whitepapers and proposals in research areas of expertise * Primary lead on sponsors and potential sponsors engagement * Primary author of entire technical reports/presentations of projects, journal articles, and conference presentations Required Minimum Qualifications * At least five years of experience with high power RF transmitters. This includes power supply design and high-power testing. Preferred Qualifications * Active Secret Clearance * Eight or more years of experience with high power RF transmitters. * Experience with tube and solid state transmitters. * Experience with high power radar transmitters. * Experience with high power transmitters for electronic warfare applications. Travel Requirements 10-25% travel Education and Length of Experience This position vacancy is an open-rank announcement. The final job offer will be dependent on candidate qualifications in alignment with Research Faculty Extension Professional ranks as outlined in section 3.2.1 of the Georgia Tech Faculty Handbook * 9 years of related experience with a Bachelor''s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related field. * 7 years of related experience with a Master''s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related field. * 4 years of related experience with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related field.
