The mission of the Applications team is to understand customer needs and influence design of systems for integrated and continuous manufacturing of mAbs and manufacturing of novel modalities such as viral vectors. As a key part of the Application Team, the Principal/Senior Bioprocessing Engineer will help drive a successful product development and launch through focused customer interactions, literature review and lab experimentation. By leveraging and building your expertise in chromatography and filtration technologies, you will play a key part in the development of systems that will shape future of biologics manufacturing by being a creative, analytical, and a proactive thought leader in the rapidly growing and dynamic application space.Location: Based at our Bedford, MA campus.Your Role:* Own the efforts to explore, characterize, and assess the performance of existing and new technologies for intensified downstream bioprocessing applications* Influence product development to meet strategic and technical objectives* Research literature, attend conferences, and interact directly with customers through specific collaborations to keep current with the bioprocessing end user''s process design targets, performance expectations, technical advancements, and general bioprocessing needs* Deliver presentations summarizing technical results and thought leadership both internally and externallyWho you Are:Minimum Requirements* Bachelor''s Degree in Chemical/ Biochemical Engineering/ Chemistry/ Biomedical Engineering (or related discipline) 7-10 years of experience, Masters 6-8 years of experience, PH.D. 3-5 years of experience* Working in the laboratory setting, planning, conducting, documenting, and analyzing data from hands-on experimental work either in industry, or, through your academic pursuits* You are experienced and well-versed in downstream purification of biologicals by clarification, chromatography, and other filtration techniques, and can understand the importance of each from holistic process standpoint* Domestic and international travel may be requiredPreferred Qualifications* Expert in Downstream Bioprocessing purification* Motivated, team-oriented engineer, and enjoy mentoring junior scientists and engineers while creating well-designed laboratory experiments and drawing significant conclusions from the results* Excellent problem solving & analytical skills* Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with peers, customers, vendors, and managers* Excellent written communication skills with ability to generate and contribute to publications and publication-quality documents* Experience in continuous processing and process analytical technologies is a plusWhat we offer: We are curious minds that come from a broad range of backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences.We celebrate all dimensions of diversity.
