Systems and Security AdministratorGeneral Description of DutiesUnder the direction of the Director of Information Technology, the purpose of the position is to perform technical and analytical work in developing infrastructure designs and plans for both current and future strategies for information management and information technology goals, objectives, and initiatives related to network, data and information security. The employee is expected to have extensive knowledge and experience of Microsoft operating systems and infrastructure software, virtualization, storage area networks (SAN), security administration, and LAN and WAN infrastructure technologies.The Systems and Security Administrator are responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, health, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. The Systems Administrator leads and/or participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. The Systems Administrator ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational strategies.Essential Job FunctionsThe list of essential functions, as outlined, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this position. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position.Administration* Determine the root cause of issues and communicate appropriately to internal and external parties.* Develop and maintain installation, operations, and configuration procedures.* Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity, security, and availability of all hardware and software.* Administration and security of corporate VPN.* Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.* Apply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes.* Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.* Provide technical support after normal work hours when necessary.* Responsible for documenting the configuration of systems.Customer Service* Advise management on situations that may require additional user support or escalation.* Consistently provide excellent customer service.* Communicates to the user the status of requests for technical assistance as well as establishes a service level expectation with them.* Follow all relevant standards and procedures.* Thoroughly document incident descriptions, activities, and novation Cloud and On-Premises* Develop System Administration processes to ensure free-flowing escalation and information within the organization.* Introduce and integrate new technologies into the existing data center environment.* Design and implement highly-available hardware and software systems across multiple operating systems.Leadership* Assists in developing strategic plans and identifies key success factors sets priorities and allocates the resources to achieve company goals.* Assists with budget planning. This includes infrastructure analysis, design, and reorganization, to maximize the life and usefulness of network hardware and software.* Performs duties as assigned and necessary that are related to the position.Project* We are designing, installing, and configuring new hardware and software.* Decommission legacy hardware and software.* Migrate and/or upgrade hardware and software.* Analyze application requirements, developers'' needs, and technical constraints, then provide tailored solutions.* Drive company security policies to keep in line with best IT security practices.Minimum QualificationsEducation: (Certifications and/or experience may be substituted)* Bachelor''s Degree in Information Technology or a closely related field.* MCSE certification* VMWare VCP* Cisco CCNARequired Experience:* Five (5) or more years of experience providing leadership or mentoring teams, including hands-on experience, which are responsible for systems and/or network design, administration, and support.* Ten (10) or more years of progressively knowledgeable, responsible, and skilled experience in systems and networking including the following areas:* Proven ability to design, architect, develop, and maintain a medium to large-scale network and server environment.* Ten (10) or more years of experience with the following:* Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems.* Active Directory administration and management (manage objects and groups).* Virtualization technologies (VMware and Hyper-V)Desired Experience:* Experience with cloud computing:* Migration* Installation* Administration* Knowledge of scripting languages (Windows PowerShell and VBScript).Miscellaneous:* Must possess and maintain a valid Driver''s License.* An equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience may be considered instead of required education or experience.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities* Extensive knowledge of principles and methods applied to information technology infrastructure, planning, implementation, and management.* Extensive knowledge of the body of available and current information resources applicable to the department''s functions for technical research purposes and for special projects as may be assigned.* Ability to organize work, establish priorities, meet established deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimum direction.* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees.* Ability to communicate information both verbally and in writing.* Extensive knowledge of the methods, tools, and techniques applied to diverse IT Support in complex multi-platform networked environments.* Extensive knowledge of various current technologies relevant to existing applications, systems, and/or upcoming installations, e.g., Microsoft technologies; programming/scripting languages; web, server, and voice/data network technologies.* Skill in reading and interpreting technical and trade journals, industry-specific periodicals, product/manufacturer specifications, and related technical information and data.* Ability to analyze, implement, maintain and repair new technological software and programs; ability to evaluate, diagnose and develop solutions to potential and real operational and system deficiencies to ensure continued and non-disrupted service to system users.* Ability to utilize personal computers, standard office equipment, and standard software applications, e.g., word processors, database software, and spreadsheet applications.Physical Demand Requirements:Physical Demand: Medium* 50 pounds maximum lifting.* Frequent (up to 2/3 of the work time) lifting, carrying up to 25 lbs.* If less lifting is involved will require significant walking/standing.* If mostly sitting is involved will require push/pull on arm or leg controls.* Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken word or perceiving sound by ear.* Good eyesight for production or safety of self and others.* Physical agility is required in kneeling, bending, stooping, and reaching.
