Our Aerospace Business Unit (ABU) is a preferred supplier to most airframe and engine manufacturers and we also supply solutions to most Tier 1 and Tier 2 aerospace system and component manufacturers. We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join our team with experience in designing fluid handling devices such as valves, actuators, pumps, filters, or other fluid system components. Aerospace experience is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate would have 8 to 15 years of experience. Position Summary: Design filters (elements, bypass valves, DP indicators, DP switches, regulator valves, filter assemblies) for the aerospace market. Perform all design related activities such as creating 3D models, generating detail drawings, conducting analysis (concentration on fluid mechanics and solid mechanics including Computational Fluid Dynamics and Finite Element analysis), performing verification testing and qualification testing. Setup hydraulic/pneumatic test stands for testing. Work closely with customer engineers from proposal stage through qualification stage. Solve any design related issues with production stage products. Create engineering documents such as technical proposals, test plans, test procedures, engineering coordination memos, engineering change orders, lab reports, qualification test reports, and so forth. In addition to the essential functions below, the Senior Design Engineer''s key accountabilities are: Ability to complete advanced design projects that include creating new design solutions beyond using existing designs Contributing significantly to new design techniques and tools that the rest of the design team can effectively utilize in future design work Establishing and maintaining trusting relationships with our customer''s engineers to create a team approach to satisfying the customer''s needs Communicating clearly to customers during project stress events such as when there are delays or product performance issues Ability to review other team members work for accuracy and completeness Essential Functions: Knowledge of drawing practices, tolerancing and use of computer-aided design and basic engineering analysis tools. Able to create product designs by: Reviewing and comprehending customer design specifications Communicating with customers to enable designs that solve the problem for the customer, Analyzing performance and dimensional requirements Providing engineering drawings and specifications to ensure product conforms to customer requirements Utilizing engineering knowledge with emphasis on strength of materials, fluid mechanics and manufacturing methods Utilizing 3D design/modeling software and other computer tools Validate product designs by: Setting up and operating hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic test stands and equipment Conducting product validation tests; Generating test plans, procedures and reports Performing alternate calculations Fabricate development hardware by: Operating manufacturing equipment; Ordering and scheduling necessary equipment Monitoring project for nonconformance to cost and delivery goals Provide support services to Sales, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance by: Analyzing and evaluating product application, manufacturability, and performance with regard to price, quality, delivery and safety Create/Review Product Designs for Manufacturability by: Considering manufacturing capabilities along with performance requirements when tolerancing while taking into consideration the ability to effectively apply continuous improvement principles and techniques Understanding in-house manufacturing methods, techniques and capabilities Improving existing designs with engineering changes Ensuring design and process documentation clarity - (i.e. making sure drawings, specs and routings are understood by production personnel) Qualifications: Citizenship: US Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien Education: Bachelor''s degree (BS)in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering Experience: Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through six (6) or more years of related experience.
