Responsibilities Job Summary / Purpose The Long Term Care manager serves as the administrative individual for MercyOne''s Long Term Care facility. They are responsible for the planning, organizing, staffing, directing, coordinating and evaluating of the activities of resident services in a manner which is in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne Health System. Through these activities, they develop and maintain an environment which is conducive to quality resident care. The manager collaborates with the medical staff and other department managers to achieve the unit''s objectives. They participate in the development of policies and procedures. This individual provides leadership, accountability and responsibility for the entire scope of Long Term Care for MercyOne Centerville Medical Center. Operational responsibilities include budgeting, resident care management, staff development and integration and functioning within the state and federal regulations. Essential Key Job Responsibilities Develops, maintains and implements policies and procedures that conform to current standard of practice, facility philosophy and state and federal laws and regulations. Ensures delivery of safe, compassionate and quality care to residents. Provides nursing supervision to all staff and residents. Assists in providing for the spiritual, psychological and social needs of residents. Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in care of geriatric residents. Responsible for monitoring the job performance of the team. Oversees the hiring for the unit. Responsible for staff development and orientation activities. Coordinates education programs that promote staff development. Evaluates staffing needs and determines staffing requirements. Evaluates clients for possible admission to the unit. Assists with the preparation of the department budget and maintains the operating budget. Responsible for inventory control of supplies. Advises and consults with administration on resident care issues. Practices effective problem identification and resolution skills. Performs efficiently in emergency situations, following established policies and procedures. Promotes a happy, safe and fulfilling environment. Participates in relevant professional organizations and activities. Performs annual performance evaluations. Fosters professional and personal development of staff. Nurtures individual strengths and abilities to develop employee skill sets. Works as a team member, building interpersonal relationships with hospital staff and providers. Participates in strategic planning for the facility. Promotes and embodies the MercyOne mission and vision and core values. Performs other duties as needed and assigned. Qualifications Required Licensure and Certifications Current RN license Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Clinical Leadership experience is required Experience working directly with physicians/providers. PREFERRED Qualifications Experience in working with geriatrics
