SummaryThe R&D group at Labcorp in Westborough, MA is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Scientist to join their team to support assay development for clinical testing. The selected candidate will innovate, design and execute proof-of-concept studies, provide technical expertise in assay development and perform validation studies for regulatory submission and implementation into a clinical lab. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative group of scientists in the innovation and development of assays to support clinical genetic testing. This is a PhD entry level position. Open to hiring newly minted PhD graduates - no postdoctoral experience required!Responsibilities:Design proof-of-concept studies for molecular assay design and developmentDevelop and validate complex molecular diagnostic assays with specific emphasis on NGS methods and perform critical analysis of the data and interpretationDesign and execute analytical verification and validation studies for regulatory submissionsCollaborate with bioinformaticians to develop NGS analysis pipelines for DNA and RNA sequencing dataEvaluate commercial products for feasibility and applicability in a clinical lab settingMaintain detailed and organized documentation on all work in laboratory notebooksPrepare and present study reports, summary reports at departmental meetings and project meetingsTrain clinical personnel (technologists, supervisors, directors, QC) on assays and provide troubleshooting support including any additional experimentation and/or data re-analysisKeep abreast of current literature pertinent to the project or departmental areas of interest and discuss papers in a round-table Journal Club forum among scientists with various backgroundsPublish scientifically relevant data in peer reviewed journals Participate and present findings at conferencesParticipate in the development of patent applications, if applicableBasic QualificationsPh.D in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry or a related field plus 0 - 3 year''s relevant work or postdoctoral experience.
