As a Senior Security Tools Engineer at Octo you will be supporting the mission of a progressive Federal agency. You will be helping in implementing and operating USCIS security tools. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, patching, operating, and supporting the current tools, and for architecting, deploying, testing, maintaining, patching, operating, and supporting any new tools. security activities required to support other teams to incorporate security into the development of new solutions and recommend security best practices associated with the development of new enterprise applications in an Agile/DevSecOps environment. This program will support our US Customs and Immigration Services Cyber Security Defense Services Contract that provides support to Security Engineering Branch of Information Security Division (ISD) of USCIS. We protect USCIS'' IT infrastructure and resources, information systems, and the information that is used in these environments from cybersecurity threats. Skills & Requirements Requirements: * Experience leading the deployment and operation of vulnerability assessment tools, such as Tenable Security Center or Beyond Trust Retina to a large enterprise. * Experience leading the deployment and operations of a large, complex, endpoint security installation at a large enterprise - McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator, Symantec Protection Suite, Microsoft Defender ATP. * Knowledge of RedHat or Debian based distributions. * Understanding of Security configuration and compliance settings, Active Directory & LDAP authentication configuration and troubleshooting experience * Working experience or knowledge of networking fundamentals including ACL, VLAN, subnetting. * Working familiarity with Splunk is required. * Knowledge about Zero trust principles and any tool sets such as ZScaler is a definite plus. * Experience or familiarity with AWS or Azure technologies Desired Skills & Experience: * Experience supporting DHS Agencies. * Ability to demonstrate and explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences * Able to clearly communicate with both customers and teammates and provide recommendations for improvements to existing software applications * Linux administration experience in a medium to large enterprise. * Experience in one or more of the following programming languages: C++, C, Java, Node.js, JSON, PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby on Rails, Pig/Hive * At least 3 years'' experience with Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or PowerShell tools. Years of Experience: * Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT security, and 5 years of specialized experience in implementing enterprise security products and solutions Education: Bachelor''s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related combination of education and experience technical field is required. Location: This position can be staffed at the Government''s facility within the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area or any locations in the United States with requirement for occasional travel to the government facility in the DC Area.
