Business Process Analyst, Technical WriterLocation: Herndon, VA (hybrid schedule, 40% remote)Clearance Required: TS/SCI Clearance with Full-scope Polygraph Our ideal candidate is highly autonomous, very detail oriented, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills and has experience working with large scale, enterprise class networks and systems. We are seeking a Technical Writer responsible for researching, writing, and editing materials for related IT processes, plans, procedures, work instructions, reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instructional material, catalogs, technical publications, and/or software and hardware documentation. Obtains technical data from independent observation, review with technical staff members, and/or studies of published materials and existing documentation. Interfaces with users, specialists, analysts, programmers, etc., to obtain background information of technologies, methods, and standards. Revises text and recommends changes in scope, format, and content to ensure conformance with established standards. May edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers. Performs final quality assurance on all materials. We value a team member who can prepare instruction manuals, and/or the ability to convert complex documentation to easy language for multiple audiences (technical or non-technical). They will bring both a focus on operational best practice and proactive innovation to the role. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:• Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for the greatest reader comprehension.• Communicate complex ideas in a concise manner.• Generate innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions.• Meet with subject-matter experts to ensure specialized topics are appropriately addressed.• Analyze information required for the development or update of policy, procedure, and form documentation.• Review and/or copyedit content developed by other members of the team.• Ability to take existing content and challenge it, confirm accuracy and/or improve it• Create product manuals, simple wireframes with screenshots and tutorials• Write documentation for internal teams such as developers and programmers as well as product end-users. Desired qualifications:• Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence.• Can produce basic architectural solution drawings for hardware and software products.• Has worked within the IC Community for internships or other related professional opportunities.• Able to facilitate IT service management, project lifecycle, and business process related discussions with peers and customers.• Skilled with typical Office 365 software, ability to create/edit Visio workflows, identify process bottlenecks, gaps, and potential improvements in document content.• ITIL Foundations v3 or 4 and some project lifecycle (waterfall/agile) training preferred.• Desire 1-2 years of experience creating/editing IT project lifecycle-based documentation and/or documentation supporting IT service management related documentation changes for IT engineering, operations, support, and program management.• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
