Principal FPGA Engineer with Security Clearance

Cimarron is seeking a Principal FPGA Engineer to help lead a team developing FPGA Firmware for critical space and airborne systems with defense, intelligence, and commercial applications in San Diego, CA. As an FPGA design engineer, you will be directly involved in the design, integration, and test of advanced satellite communication links, digital telemetry, signal processing, and encryption technology. Key DutiesSupport proposal efforts in the estimation and planning of end-to-end FPGA development.Present and review technical designs internally and customer-facing.Decompose and allocate system and box-level requirements to FPGA requirements and specifications.Architect solutions against requirements and implement those solutions in various FPGA technologies or platforms.Lead small teams of engineers in executing FPGA development of highly reliable and robust FPGA designs.Follow, enforce, and refine consistent firmware development processes across FPGA designs.Develop module and top-level HDL code, and generate appropriate testbench and verification environments.Map FPGA simulation work products to system-level requirements and capabilities.Synthesize designs to targeted technologies and perform constraint-driven placement, routing, and analysis.Develop FPGA simulations to verify performance and requirements, then integrate and test the FPGA on the circuit card assembly.Provide employee performance feedback and work assessments for FPGA team members. Required Skills, Experience, and EducationDue to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time. Cimarron employees are required to follow federal, state, and local laws regarding COVID-19 practices, as well as customer requirements.Active Secret clearance. 9 or more years of related work experience. Experience with VHDL, the FPGA design process, and the tools used to generate the FPGA designs.Experience building FPGAs with difficult timing and/or difficult routing constraints.Experience with the design and test of FPGA-based digital signal and baseband processing.Experience with standard lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal generators.Bachelor''s degree. Desired Skills, Experience, and EducationActive Top Secret security clearance.Fundamental experience with, and a desire to perform management functions.Ability to combine communications/DSP system knowledge and VHDL experience.Experience verifying FPGA implementation against system models in MATLAB/Simulink.Experience with 1553B, SpaceWire, XAUI, JESD, I2C, and SPI interfaces.Experience with Xilinx and Microsemi development tools.Experience with digital encryption schemes.Experience with embedded processors.
