To provide advanced manufacturing engineering support for Detroit operating facilitiesResponsibilities* Responsible for planning and leading complex systems and projects which includes: researching vendors, creating technical specifications, requesting quotations, selecting vendors, creating timelines, issuing purchase requisitions (coordinate with Purchasing), scheduling installations and tryouts, qualifying and approving equipment/tooling for projects, and etc.* Lead the design and development of systems and continuous improvements* Independently applies processes and standards to the needs and progress of projects* Responsible for funding planning and tracking of complex over-arching projects based on Daimler standard project funding principles (CAPEX, NRE, EA1, EA2, and OP)* Proactively manage and adopt spending plans as needed to meet cost targets* Able to identify shortfalls in projects or tasks and independently develop counter-measures, resolutions and implement effectiveness.* Independently utilize the appropriate project management tools for your project / task.* Independently provide engineering expertise and project lead in integrating equipment, systems, materials, facilities, and processes into a cohesive, cost efficient and production manufacturing system.* Independently lead project teams with production, maintenance, product engineering, quality, suppliers, etc.* Independently promotes continuous improvements and actively screens markets and implements* Independently suggest and implements product or process design modifications, where applicable and make process, tooling, fixtures, or assembly recommendations, including budget estimates as part of the review process.* Schedule time according to established job priorities. Monitor work progress and resolves problems in order to ensure timely completion of projects.* Effectively work with hourly and skilled trades union workers* Must be able to provide management with regular reports / presentations on project work plans and status for information and resource management purposes.* Must be able to professionally represent ME and actively participate in CVDS and PPR projects.* Must have regular communication and collaboration with the global ME team.* Need to have the ability to coach, mentor, and delegate to other team members.* Ensure engineering practices comply with government regulations and safety standards.* Perform special projectsRequired Qualifications* Bachelor''s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology with 6+ years of assembly line or machining planning experience* Project management or supervisory experience* Experience in machining and assembly processes* Experience in implementing tooling changes due to product changes* Experience with new product launches or machine retrofits* Experience with process modifications, improvements, and waste elimination* Able to provide recommendations of new line concepts* Ability to identify basic problems and procedural irregularities, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions* Ability to articulate technical information in written and oral communication* Ability to read technical drawings and check for information required* Ability to manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously* Must be able to travel, including international* Proficiency in Microsoft Office* An attached resume is requiredPreferred Qualifications* Understanding of axles, transmissions, and engine components* Knowledge of Lean System Principles.* Global project experience* Experience in machining ring gears and pinions* Experience in heat treatment of metals* Experience in CNC programming & use of AutoCAD* Knowledge of ANSI, ISO, and DIN standards* Able to organize shop floor management meetings* Assist the production supervisor and operators as needed with any other process related issuesL1-DC1Work Location Opportunity:This position is open to consideration at the following locations:* DetroitDaimler Trucks North America is firmly committed to developing a work environment that supports empowerment and inclusion for our current and future employees.
