Join our team! As a Systems Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify and improve cutting edge products and services. Youll be developing complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms, ushering them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test using progressive tools. As a cross-functional engineer, you are in charge of system-level ownership of new products and processes through the product lifecycle. What to Look Forward to: As a Senior System Safety Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to document a safety plan specific to a program, identify hazards, assess risk, identify mitigation for that risk, and verify that the risk was mitigated. You will be responsible for informing design decisions to meet safety expectations and requirements for the products they are assigned to. The system safety engineer will analyze a system, sub-system, or component and recommend design features that meet safety criteria to control or eliminate safety risk. Learn more about IAS The system safety engineer will have extensive expertise in the application of safety process methodologies including at least one of the following: MIL-STD-882E and/or ARP4761. The system safety engineer has the ability to define tailorable areas of the safety process, depending on the program needs. The system safety engineer will have experience in the generation and/or review of design artifacts to support system safety analysis utilized in the design and manufacture of aerospace and defense products. The system safety engineer has a strong understanding of core systems engineering concepts to include: stakeholder analysis, functional development, requirements development and validation / verification. Must-haves: * Typically 12 years of experience with a Bachelor''s, 10 years with a Masters, 8 years with a Doctorate degree in science, engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, aeronautics, safety or closely related discipline* Experience applying MIL-STD-882E and/or ARP4761 or similar processes, like NASA/SP-2014-612, to the development of systems, hardware or software* Experience with creation of a Hazard List (HL), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Common Cause Analysis (CCA), and the System Safety Assessment (SSA)* Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative system safety analysis* Strong written and verbal communication skills* DoD Secret Clearance, or the ability to obtain* U.S. citizenship Preferred: * Software development or coding experience* Experience using DO-178 and/or DO-254 for design development* Experience with agile development* Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using Cameo, Matlab / Simulink or similar* Experience mitigating safety risk through design changes, fault detection, usage restrictions, and training* Experience in aircraft systems development* Experience with generating system safety documentation in support of aircraft FAA Supplemental Type Certificate certification and/or MIL-HDBK-516 certification* Experience in aircraft system Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM)* Experience with Windchill, MIL-HDBK-217F and Reliasoft in implementation of reliability analysis* Associate Safety Professional (ASP) / Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certificate* Experience working with DoD customers* The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required.
