Job DescriptionProject Specialist Intertek is searching for an Project Specialist to join our Building & Constructionteam in our Miami, FL office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Building Sciences. The Project Specialist is responsible for assisting with small to medium-sized projects. The work will primarily include forensic engineering consulting for existing buildings involved in first-party insurance and third-party construction defect claims. A Project Specialist must maintain professional relationships and involvement in their field of technical expertise through professional associations, committee work, and industry involvement.What you''ll do: Assist with/perform forensic investigations and documentation of existing conditions including wall claddings, windows, curtain wall systems, roofs, skylights, plaza waterproofing, and below grade elements Litigation support for projects involving all the issues discussed above Assist in field water testing, inspections, site surveys, and documenting destructive testing Perform initial review of architectural drawings, shop drawings, and submittals Perform various on-site investigation activities Prepare professionally written technical reports Prepare sketches and details using AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or hand-written techniques Other duties as assigned What it takes to be successful in this role: Bachelor''s Degree in Engineering or Architectural Engineering preferred Engineer Intern (E.I.) certification preferred 1 to 3 years of industry experience preferred Professional registration or ability to obtain registration within three years preferred Technical knowledge of building construction and/or the desire to learn Technical understanding of building enclosure systems and/or the desire to learn Field experience or strong interest in working onsite Ability to read and understand architectural drawings and specifications Ability to perform office tasks and physical labor tasks Ability to perform work from ladders, boom-lifts, scaffolds, roofs, etc. Ability to efficiently work on projects independently and in a team environment Excellent organizational and project management skills Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines Strong technical writing and communication skills Consistent and professional interaction and communication with clients and project team Ability to travel outside local area, depending on local work load and project locations Valid driver''s license and reliable driving record (required) Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening Why work at Intertek?
