Starting as a Laborer and working his or her way up to a Carpenter position, the employee will begin his career performing a variety of duties, often transferring from one task to another whenever the situation requires. He will gradually be trained as a carpenter, who constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures conforming to local codes.ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties & Responsibilities for Laborer: Acquires tools needed for daily operationsMeasures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes, and stretches tight line.Bolts, nails, aligns, and blocks up under forms.Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.Mixes concrete. Smoothes and finishes freshly poured cement or concrete.Positions, joins, aligns, and seals pipe sections.Erects scaffolding, shoring, and braces.Gets job set up for daily functionsUses cut saws to make pipe proper lengthPreps pipe for connection before pipe gets loweredPreps structures for installations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities For Carpenter:Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard and dimensions of structure of fixture to be fabricated.Selects specified type of lumber or other materials.Prepares layoutMarks cutting and assembly lines on materialsShapes materials to prescribed measurementsAssembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins or glue.Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob and carpenter''s levelH&K provides complete heavy civil contracting and construction materials solutions with safety, speed, quality, efficiency and value.
