Project Engineer (Automotive Wire Harnesses)

Lumenance is looking for a great engineer for a direct position with a Tier 1 European wire harness manufacturing for the following: Job Functions• Act as primary technical contact person for Global customers (Nafta, Europe and Asia) • Experience with Siemens TeamCenter (PLM) is a plus • Complete technical APQP documentation for customers and Project management • Support Project Management in providing the technical timeline and communication • Support Business development: evaluate Engineering changes, technical feasibility verification, cost impacts • Participate in feasibility studies to assure products are efficient and robust. • Work off customer RFQ''s (establishing BOM''s out of customer drawings, develop process flow charts and create product costing for our sales department using existing tools and filing standards) • Assess new engineering projects for viability (design limitations, cost concerns, functionality and trade-offs). Present these issues to the engineering team along with recommendations for resolution. • Ability to proactively identify and resolve engineering and manufacturing related issues and have a thorough understanding of product manufacturing processes. • Support technical sales activities as needed by the Sales department • Ensure clear communication of meeting minutes including notes, assignments and highlights • Estimate material/fabrication costs for new products and processes - execute product /process development to cost targets and communicate cost vs. performance conflicts early in the design • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, 3-D CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor or equivalent is a plus • Capability to accurately and efficiently work on multiple projects • Possess excellent organizational, communication, proofreading, editing and technical writing skills • Work with Purchasing, Outside Vendors and Internal Machine Shop as prototype parts are fabricated to ensure designs are manufacturable and easily inspected • Organize BOM for prototype build, supervise RFQ process, and conduct (or supervise) prototype build. • Offer technical support via direct communication to sales, marketing and customers. • Ability to work independently, resolve technical and manufacturing issues without detailed direction, and work as part of a team • Represent the engineering team with professionalism and integrity when communicating with the customer, cross functional teams and the entire organization • Provide technical support and assist in resolution of manufacturing problems as required. • Review and approve all product documentation • Comprehensive knowledge of BOM structure and change control processes. • Pursue and support cost reduction activities to achieve established company goals. • Ability to work within strict deadlines • Demonstrate a very strong attention to detail • Responsible for all design related activities on specific projects including print dimensions/specification, product testing/validation, define new testing equipment needs • Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications. • Provides product engineering support to production operations as required. • Document project results while providing regular status reports. (Examples: test procedures and reports for product development, certification, and production acceptance) • Ability to work in a team environment also possessing mentor skills to lead new and/or existing personnel as well as students • Extended working hours may be required according to business needs Requirements• Bachelor''s degree from a four-year college or university in Engineering, preferably Mechanical / Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent field • At least 2-3 years'' experience in the automotive industry or similar industry. • Advanced Engineering Degree is a plus. • In addition to English, German, Spanish language skills are a plus • Experience using problem solving tools, APQP, FMEA, Poka Yoke Design/Design for manufacturability, and AIAG automotive standards Benefits - Competitive Salary - Advancement Opportunity - Health, vision, and dental insurance programs - Paid Time Off and Holidays
