Job DescriptionSUMMARYThe Credit Analyst is responsible for managing all facets of credit and accounts receivable relationships with an assigned portfolio of Advance Auto Parts commercial customers. The Credit Analyst conducts high-level financial and/or public record credit analysis on new or existing customer accounts to provide credit and terms approvals. Success in this area will involve delivering consistently current credit information regarding the financial status of their assigned portfolio, keeping credit files current for accounts with substantial credit exposures, and providing portfolio analytics to Credit Leadership. The results of effective performance will be maximizing sales opportunities and minimizing credit losses while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Evaluate credit capacity of prospective customers by compiling financial information, credit rating agencies, bank & trade references, payments history data, and interpreting financial trendsResearch company history of prospective customers and investigate industry trendsResolve customer claims and disputed itemsProvide guidance to functional counterparts in operating units and management on matters involving exposure and risk associated with accounts receivable relationshipsPlace accounts on credit hold as necessaryEstablish credit limits for prospective customers based on analysis and customer needRecommend to Manager and approve credit limits up to assigned credit authorityMonitor credit limits of existing credit relationshipsRespond to internal and external requests for credit informationProcess credit applications, including contacting credit references and setting credit limitsMinimize losses due to bad debtCommunicate with Field Operations and Commercial Sales Teams regarding account status and credit actions takenMaintain credit files and update as requiredEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Bachelor''s degree in Finance or related field preferred3 years financial statement credit review analysis experience (prior collection and developing reporting on metrics experience a plus); or equivalent combination of education and experienceUnderstanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping proceduresProficient credit and financial statement analysis skillsEffective collections, issue resolution, deduction management, and negotiation skillsStrong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel (PeopleSoft A/R experience is a plus)Communications expertise and a proficient telephone mannerCollaborative attitude, as well as strong analytical and investigative skillsAbility to work with customers in sometimes difficult and confrontational situationsGood interpersonal skills with a focus on rapport-building, listening and questioning abilitiesAbility to conduct research into a wide range of credit issuesSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position does not have supervisory responsibilities.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS NonePHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
