Engineer, Reliability SystemsThe OpportunityGoodman Manufacturing, a member of Daikin Industries is seeking a professional, skilled individual for our Engineer, Reliability Systems position within Quality Assurance at our DTTP - Waller, TX location. The Reliability Systems Engineer has overall responsibility for the design, construction, maintenance and improvement of the Reliability Data Acquisition (RDAC) system and the Reliability Project Management (RPM) databases. Takes on a lead role while collaborating with other engineers for the design, development and deployment of the systems. These systems are mission critical in completing important New Product Development, Cost Down and Quality Improvement projects in a timely and effective manner. May include, in addition to;Create test programs designed to predict the life and performance of the Daikin/Goodman products. Provide guidance and oversight to technicians who build RDAQ-based test equipment and sensors Provide guidance and oversight to other web development engineers who work on the RPM system. Create the web page interfaces to RDAQ, which allow users to access data from the system and configure the system from their computers.Select appropriate instrumentation and oversee the deployment of sensors onto Units-Under-Test (UUT), integrate off-the-shelf sensors into RDAQ when new types of sensors are needed and design a new sensor from scratch with an appropriate off-the-shelf sensor is not available and develop control code for all sensors.Develop the dynamic web tools used by other techs and engineers to gain access to RDAQ data and control their testsTroubleshoot and problem solve all aspects of RDAQ, RPM and sensorsDevelop, test, and deploy new RPM and RDAQ control software that fits into the RPM and RDAQ control framework, which at this time is not completely documented, and assist in the completion of the control code specification. (the RDAQ Engineer ensures that all new code meets the RDAQ EEPROM specification as well as the RDAQ Frame Specification)Participate in additional projects/activities as needed to support business needs.Knowledge & Skills:Significant experience and demonstrated familiarity with digital and analog hardware design & requirements, instrumentation of devices under test, control software development; electrical noise suppression and data transmission of instrument signalsStrongly preferred - knowledge of how to suppress undesirable electrical noise such as voltage swell and spike, or induced voltage from nearby conductorsDigital and analog design skills need to be sufficient to incorporate off-the-shelf sensors into the RDAQ architecture in a way that complies with the sensor specificationsAbility to select and implement sensors (e.g. analog with a voltage output that is proportional to the thing being measured, I2C, SDA and serial) particularly the analog type is importantAbility to design a fully custom sensor when a suitable one is not available. Understanding of how capacitance of the line affects the accuracy of the sensor and be able to design a sensor that works in the conditions where it is used Fluency with Microsoft SQL Server; including database development, stored procedures, triggers, and other types of scripting in MS SQL Server. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve database problemsWeb page development and ability to use open-source CAD software Ability to use suitable CAD software to create new RDAQ related PCBs as neededStrong understanding developing web applications in HTML, jQuery and PHP is a requirementFluency in the development of solutions in Python and C. Skills writing in assembly language is a plusAbility to read & interpret test plans and implement the test control and data acquisition specified in the plan.Good understanding of the security layers needed and a willingness to work with the IT department to meet Daikin business policies is a requirementUnderstand transactions, how to use primary and foreign keys, inner and outer joins and how to apply them Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take knowledge from many disciplines to solve novel issuesExcellent organizational, time management and project management skillsEffective verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and team building skillsExperience:5 - 8 years in a related fieldEducation:BSEE with strong programming skills or BSCE with strong electronic hardware skills (Physics or Math degree will be considered if hardware and programming skills are demonstrated) - Masters degree is a plusPhysical Requirements/Work Environment:Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodationsQualified Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States.
