Lab Technician

Seeking a 1st Shift Laboratory Technician!Eligible for Holiday pay, PTO pay, and Benefits from day one of starting!Description:These roles will support three of the main lab groups within Biodiagnostics based on sample volume and the need during their busy season. Technicians will be trained on multiple functions and need to help out where needed in the following three areas: Sample Prep : This involves preparing plant and seed tissues for genetic testing on corn, rice, cotton, canola, soybean, and wheat. This roll is the baseline to support the DNA Extraction lab and Genetics Lab Functions. They will rotate through sample prep throughout their time on assignment. They will train primarily in Sample Prep as well. DNA Extraction lab:Review testing plan for incoming samples and prepare them to be tested on 96 well sample plates within the animal, PCR, or High through-put labs. Titrate, pipette, make media, buffers, and reagents with high attention to detail. Support DNA Extraction, PCR, and livestock lab as needed. Clean glassware, maintain stock/chemical inventory, and clean the workspace Document via paper and LIMS to track samples and ensure accuracy of testing procedures. Genetic Testing Lab (also referred to as Genetic Purity Lab): This involves preparing plant and seed tissues for genetic testing and then running ATP plating and Gel Electrophoresis on these samples. This lab analyzes the genetic characteristics in samples that create purity in their yields and growth characteristics. Review testing plan for incoming samples and prepare them for testing. Volumes are roughly 8 to 10 plates daily with 96 wells each. Titrate, pipette, make media, buffers, and reagents with high attention to detail. Perform Gel Electrophoresis on a Large scale batch (1000 ml of Gel preps at a time) Perform ATP swabbing, plating, Streaking, and staining aseptically for Snip testing of agricultural samples. Clean glassware, maintain stock/chemical inventory, and clean the workspace Additional Skills & Qualifications:BA/BS in a Technical discipline OR coursework in sciences Would consider a High School Diploma with 6+ months of laboratory experience About Actalent: Actalent connects passion with purpose.
