SoC Front-End CAD Engineer THE ROLE The Front-end CAD team leads the design teams by developing and testing new and existing EDA flows for use by AMDs world class design teams. The front-end flow accepts RTL from the design teams and synthesizes it to meet rigorous Quality of Results (QoR) and Power, Performance (timing), Area (PPA). We evaluate, procure, and deploy technologies from Synopsys, Cadence, Mentor, and others inside a FlowTool framework. To do this we build a rigorous regression environment and continuously measure results such that the design teams have the best flow for their challenging needs in state-of-the-art silicon technologies from TSMC and others. This role will be a part of a global team all working in concert for project design teams from the US, China. and India. You will work directly with your front-end colleagues and the project teams, understand the project team''s requirements and architect a solution using EDA tools, XML, TcL, Python, csh, perl scripts as appropriate to meet their needs. THE PERSON As a member of the CAD Implementation Team, you will be delivering world-class, cutting-edge methodology to AMD''s product development teams through the application of industry-leading tools/flows, and processes. Your talents as a front-end engineer will drive synthesis, formal verification, linting, clock domain crossing, and PPA analysis from RTL to placement.You are a forward-thinking engineer who tends to optimize/improve the workflow, anticipate/analyze/resolve technical issues, and enjoy a competitive pace. In addition, you have strong written and verbal skills, strong problem-solving skills, and have an exceptional attention to detail. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Work closely with CAD implementation members to deliver high quality tools and flows that meet all the key metrics of QoR: Timing, Area, and Performance. Regress all the front-end CAD implementation flows (RTL to placement) and provide a periodic status update to the team. Develop front-end CAD implementation strategy and scripts to perform synthesis and PPA analysis (performance, power, area) on subsystem level and block level RTL designs to drive for continued improvement of QoR. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE Strong understanding of digital electronics, ASIC design flow, and RTL design. Strong knowledge of front-end design tools such as FusionCompiler, Formality, Genus, Conformal, ConformalECO and EasyECO. Familiar with Verilog and other scripting languages (e.g. Tcl, Perl, Python and Flowtool). Familiar with RTL coding techniques for competitive PPA-measured QoR. Good understanding of gate level circuit design and physical level design concept and methodology. Strong knowledge of scripting Linux/Unix environment, Perl, and TCL are preferred. Excellent communication skills (both written and oral). Self-motivated, and committed to achievement. ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS BS/MS in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related.
