Job Description

Director of Community Relations The Director of Community Relations is responsible for creating a community outreach program to inform, educate and attract buyers for affordable housing in Philadelphia to ensure the success of short term and long-term goals of the company. The Director of Community Relations will provide overall direction and supervision over community relations initiatives, represents the company at all relevant community meetings related to affordable housing and creates a commitment to empowering community members on financial literacy and education. In addition will be the key contact to assist buyers in the Landbank approval process for affordable homes.Responsibilities:o Create, implement and utilize a community referral system to identify, attract and build a pipeline of potential buyers for affordable housing o Educate community members in the affordable housing buying process, landbank buyer approval, grant and other loan programs through the creation of education seminars, open houses and other engaging initiatives.o Leads education and coordination for federal/local grant opportunities and programs to assist potential affordable housing buyers. In addition, be the key contact in the Landbank affordable buyer approval process.o Build a plan for community outreach through attending local community events and community meetings. Creates documentation to organize and report relationships with community centers, churches, RCO''s, PHA, law enforcement, fire stations and any other relevant groups or centerso Identify, develop and nurture relationships with existing and emerging community leaders to build awareness, provide relevant activities and offerings around affordable housing in various Philadelphia neighborhoods.o Serves as local system Real Estate Lead; monitors and reports on potential housing purchases and saleso Identifies opportunities for housing partnerships; develops strategies for implementation o Coordinating the planning for potential new homeowners to purchase and move into the residence, including completing evaluations to determine appropriateness of potential buyers, connecting buyers with mortgage companies, generating agreement of sale, and working with the city of Philadelphia on turn the key program, while coordinating with construction phasing timelines.o Organize and promotes open houses on social media and in the community for recently finished homes.o Collaborates with senior management to evaluate programs and develop strategic objectives o Performs other related duties as assigned.Preferred Skills/Abilities: o Demonstrates in depth knowledge and compliance of federal, state, local housing or community development programs in relation to single and multi-family housing development and financing preferred.o Strong communication, written and presentation skillso Excellent management and supervisory skills.o Excellent interpersonal skills.o Extensive knowledge of affordable housing principles and techniqueso Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and google suiteo Self-starter mentality o Excellent networking skillsEducation and Experience:o Several years of experience in public policy, planning and communicationo At least 3-5 years of experience as a manager for affordable housing community or any equivalent combination of training and experience. It is preferred that candidate has established relationships in the Philadelphia community.o Established network of local community leaders within local Philadelphia neighborhoods o Bachelor''s degree in social sciences, education, or public administration preferredPhysical Requirements: • Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.• Frequent travel to various neighborhoods in Philadelphia
