Company DescriptionJob DescriptionEpsilon is looking for Bindery Operators to join our team in West Chicago, IL. Starting pay is based on experience, and several different shifts are available. Experience on Bindery machinery is not required, but some experience in a manufacturing/production environment operating machinery is preferred.Under direct supervision, the Bindery Operator 2 performs bindery functions by either manual or mechanical means as directed by written job ticket instructions and/or oral instructions from manager. Reports to production manager/sr. manager.Essential Functions:Perform bindery operations such as folding, cutting, binding, stitching, trimming, affixing, and packingOperate all bindery equipment, including folders, cutters, stitchers, affixers, tabbers, straight knives, and glue attachmentsReview completed jobs to verify conformance with the job ticket and plant standards for quality and consistencyProof original job copy to sample to confirm accuracy of job specifications before completionMaintain records of time, tasks, and number of pieces completed per jobPrepare finished product by placing in boxes, mail trays, and on carts for deliveryRead, review and interpret instructions on sample board using key information for operation, including minor trouble shooting and correction as necessaryCheck and verify job components against sample board to codes and other key information and indicatorsCheck accuracy of paperwork pertaining to job, including counts, tray tags, box labels, samples, and seedsUnderstand, complete and verify all necessary paperwork for appropriate task/job or as deemed necessaryAdhere to policies and guidelines pertaining to confidentiality, security, safety, and professional conductOther duties as assignedKnowledge & SkillsExperience in direct mail bindery production preferredKnowledge of procedures for performing bindery operationsAbility to properly use bindery equipment and suppliesAbility to read job tickets and prioritize tasksAbility to understand and follow detailed oral and written instructionsAbility to operate collator, cutter, folder, stitcher, tabber, paper punch, drill, and other equipment related to bindery operationsAttention to detail and good hand-eye coordinationWorking Conditions:Work involves frequent standing, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs)Able to move about the facility on a regular basis.Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform proper machine start-up and shut down proceduresEnsure that equipment has adequate supplies to complete full productionAbility to read and understand USPS reports, rosters, and tray tag informationMaintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and work area at all timesMaintain, complete, and verify paperwork for each production run documenting:Production run timeSpoilageDown time Maintenance sheetPostal information Meter readingsOther production logs directed by managerSort, tray, strap, and prepare finished mail pieces in compliance with U.S. Postal regulationsTechnical RequirementsKnowledge of Microsoft Products such as Word and ExcelAbility to properly use bindery equipment and suppliesPreferred QualificationsExperience in direct mail bindery production preferredKnowledge of procedures for performing bindery operationsAbility to read job tickets and prioritize tasks.Ability to work in adverse conditions such as dust, noise, and fumesAbility to understand and follow detailed oral and written instructionsExperienceRequires 0-3 year of related experienceEducationHigh school or equivalent requiredQualificationsAdditional InformationWhen you''re one of us, you get to run with the best.
