Job Summary: The Residency Educator teaches nursing at the departmental and organizational levels to align with the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. The Residency Educator designs and implements education for the Residents (learners) in the Critical Care Residency, Medical-Surgical Academy, and the Licensed Practical Nurse Float Pool. The process includes orientation and scheduling to the different departments included in each cohort, competency development, and development or revision of nursing guides (policies and procedures) to support changes in nursing or patient care. The Residency Educator integrates evidence-based practice into program development and considered responsible for outcomes of the Residency programs. The Director of the Nursing Workforce Transition Program, Clinical Nurse Specialist(s) and/or Masters-prepared Nurse Educators mentor the Residency Educator as they progress toward degree completion and transition to a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Educator role. National certification is required within 18 months of hire. Qualifications: Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license). BSN required; Masters degree in Nursing Education, or related healthcare field, preferred. The Residency Educator is expected to enroll in a Masters degree in Nursing Education, or related healthcare field, within two years of hire/transfer date into the Residency Educator role. Professional nursing certification preferred. Minimum of two years recent clinical experience in related area is required. The Residency Educator meets general hospital and departmental competency requirements. Current technical certificates such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NIH Stroke Scale Certification, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), STABLE or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) as required by specialty area.
