Lab Technician II

Job Description Title: Lab Technician II Work Location: Edison, NJ Duration: 06+ months (Temp to Hire) Job description: PPE for the job is standard: (flame retardant clothing, safety helmet, safety glasses, and safety shoes), and we provide items except for prescription safety glasses. Site-specific training instructions are given once the person is hired. Ability to perform all test procedures and handle instrumentation/equipment used in testing, which includes Gas Chromatographs, UV-Visible Spectrometers, KF titrators, Melt Flow Indexer, various particle size determination techniques, and classical lab apparatuses. Perform PP/PE polymerizations and physical testing of polymers. Well versed in computer skills. Possess good organizational skills and excellent attention to detail. Assists with the maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments and equipment. Understanding and operational use of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for sample tracking and data input. Nitrogen Glove box preparations require standing in one place and working with heavy gloves for up to half an hour. Ability to move solvent drums (55 gals) and cylinder gases as needed. Top 3 skills: Safety hazard awareness. Attention to detail. Excellent communication. Education / Experience: B.S. Chemistry or related technical field/experience preferred, but recent graduates will be considered, or: 2+ years of industrial laboratory experience with either a non-technical 4-year degree or a 2-year technical degree will also be considered.
