Mid-Level 508 Compliance Document Specialist Towson, MD, Full-time, On-siteDescription of Work:Provide testing and remediation of electronic content for Section 508 conformance (Word, pdf, Power Point, Excel)Review digital documents and products against Section 508 compliance standards including PDFs, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files and multi-media products to ensure content conforms to accessibility guidelines and requirements.Remediate content files as needed to include appropriate accessibility components such as synchronized captions, descriptions and transcriptions, proper file names, link names and structure, tables, list format, heading styles and other formatting guidelines.Work collaboratively with team members to encourage accessible authoring of content by sharing guidelines and best practices and subject matter expertise.Support various initiatives and provide taskingMaintain current knowledge of Section 508 compliance and accessibility guidelines and checklists.Ensure team is using most updated checklists to perform quality assurance and quality control reviews.Remediate non-Section 508 compliant aspects of documents and deliverablesFormat MS Word and Adobe PDF documents, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel spreadsheets in accordance with specificationsStore and maintain documents on the team''s SharePoint siteReview documents and deliverables for spelling, grammar, and consistencyPerform other duties as directBasic Qualifications: Minimum knowledge, skills, abilities needed.Bachelor''s Degree from an accredited college or university in related field or 3-5 years equivalent experienceExpertise in validating front-end features for 508 compliance against Web Accessibility Standards, including test development, administration, outcome evaluationProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat Pro.Work experience specialized in accessibility and conducting Section 508 compliance audits.Proficiency in MS Office Suite and SharePointAbility to coordinate multiple tasks, ensuring accuracy and attention to detailAbility and willingness to learn new software applicationsAbility and willingness to learn and follow processesAbility to work as a member of an integrated teamExcellent problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to maintain professional and ethical working relationshipsAbility to interact professionally with a diverse customer group including executives, managers, subject matter experts, and stakeholdersPreferred Qualifications: Candidates with these skills will be given preferential consideration.Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility (IE, Chrome, Safari, etc.) - provided by Dice
